Four years after their abandonment by the now-fallen Empire, the Commonwealth of Avalon is expanding into interstellar space and making contact with other successor states. With suspicion high on both sides, the Commonwealth and the enigmatic Wolfbane agree to hold a diplomatic meeting on Lakshmibai, a neutral world. But Lakshmibai's government hates off-worlders and, with the fall of the Empire, sees its chance to be rid of the hatred intruders once and for all. While Edward Stalker is besieged in their capital city, Jasmine Yamane must lead an untested army on a race against time to save the diplomats from annihilation. And if she fails, the Battle of Lakshmibai may be the first shot in a new interstellar war.

I have enjoyed reading this series so far. Book six has us back with Stalker’s Stalker again. Nuttall is continuing to build most interesting characters. The bad guys are really bad like in the old B movies of the 1950s. Nuttall kept the story about the characters and doesn’t wander off into lots of techno babble but he does get hung up repeating his fall of the Empire causes.
The story is fast paced with lots of action. I was surprised the author killed off one of the original favorite characters.
Nuttall has the Commonwealth of Avalon expanding into interstellar space making contacts with other successor states. The leaders of Avalon and Col. Edward Stalker agree to a diplomatic meeting with a nearby world on Lakshmibai a neutral world. The Lakshmibai’s government hates off- worlders and saw a chance to rid itself of hated intruders. Jasmine Yamane must lead an untrained army on a race to the Capital City to save the diplomats from annihilation. There is lots of fighting in this book, I think maybe over three fourths the book is the rescue fighting.
Jeffrey Kafer has done a good job narrating the series.
"Back to the main story"
This series seems to be jumping all over the place with the different stories lines. Book 5 tied back into the main story at the end and I was hoping this would build from there.......but it didn't. This book is a continuance of what I call the "Main Story" which to me revolves around Col Stalker and his marines. It deals with high tech vs. low tech battles in which the low tech side has unlimited resources.
I can't wait to see where Christopher Nuttall is going with this series.
"Empire corp is a good series"
The last two books kinda let me down. Chris nutall dragged out this story line. The action is few and far between. Hopefully the next installment redeems the series.
"This is where I stop"
This is where I stop. This series started with some promise as light military scifi, but now has turned into filler and a platform for the authors libertarian political views. The plotting is rambling, the science is weak, and the military action, when it is there at all, is uninspired. There are much better military scifi authors out there. I'm moving on.
Although I'm am tired or all the scowling and inward wincing that's always going on, I live the characters and the story. Not prose but good reading.
"Tipping Point in the Series - I'm Done"
I like Chris Nuttall, at least the first several books in his various series. But with the Corp series, I don't think I can take another one. To the Shores made no sense, and had no theme other than death and destruction. The series seems to be on auto-pilot, and it's just not worth listening to. Some of the (incredibly repetitive) dialogue is downright painful.
The action in this book puts it at the top of my favorite of the series!
Love all the others and this story was good but felt a little rushed. But did he leave you wanting the next book!
"once a marine always a marine. Gotta love 'em."
Great to see all those you root for win. Hurts when we lose a great marine.
Alright so it seems like each book takes forever to knock out one major plot pivot point and only contains one...which on the surface would suck. The reason why it doesn't is simply the fact that the author is still cranking the books out. You get the feeling that all these characters from the various side plot books are gonna come together into a new series of books. This is a good thing and man I can't wait
