Love to be back with The Gentleman Bastards witty banter and bright charactesr but was ultimately left feeling as if not much changed or progressed in terms of story.

It's the characters you know and love in a much smaller scale, less enthralling situation.
Still entertaining and building up to bigger things but not on the same level as the previous two books.

I liked going back to the roots, spending time with the Sansa twins. I liked finally getting to see Sabatha, and the hype was worth it. I felt the stakes weren’t nearly as high though, as Sabatha was never an enemy and the mages were a little to absent for me. The interludes were overall a little more interesting- lots of good characters like Bullydazi. Also, great ending though I was hoping the Patience would be a little smarter than that. Whilst the audio performance is good most of the time, I was really disappointed by Father Chains and the Thief Maker’s voices compared to the first book. The narrator relies too much on a gravelly voice in this book. Jean is also inconsistent, being sometimes very gravelly and other times not.

while the individual adventures/ storylines contained in this book were not as engaging as the previous books I enjoyed the way this novel moved the overall narative of Locke Lamora and the Gentlemen Bastards along.... looking forward to the next instalment (hopefully not too far in the future)

Not quite as good as the previous two of this series, but still a very good book. Slightly predictable, which is a shame. Still, it is a good story. The performance is fantastic.
