Publisher's Summary

The fourth novel in the acclaimed cult-favorite series starring necromancer Johannes Cabal

Horst Cabal has risen from the dead - again.

Horst, the most affable vampire one is ever likely to meet, is resurrected by an occult conspiracy that wants him as a general in a monstrous army. Their plan is to create a country of horrors, a supernatural homeland. As Horst sees the lengths to which they are prepared to go and the evil they cultivate, he realizes that he cannot fight them alone. What he really needs on his side is a sarcastic, amoral, heavily armed necromancer.

As luck would have it, this exactly describes his brother.

    "I can never get enough!"

This was wonderful I have to say, it's potentially my favorite in the series with all of the humor I've come to love of the series and all of the semi-horror.
I especially like the way the author ended the story with his notes and epilogues, and it has to be said that the reader (Nicholas Guy Smith) has done an excellent job of bringing the whole varied cast of characters to life.

    "YESSS!"

Book 3, The Fear Institute, was good, but dragged a little. The Brothers Cabal is a true return to form. Hilarious, interesting, no philosophical filler. This time around, Horst Cabal takes center stage and he is hilarious. This is one of the rare books that will have you laughing out loud while listening to your headphones. Jonathan Howard has definitely carved out his own world for his Cabal series, and I can't wait to see what he thinks up next.

    "just love the brothers.."

great book as you really get the by play of the brothers cabal. Plus who can not enjoy the reading of the book in the dry wit that makes the series so enjoyable.

    "Fantastic!"

I don't read or listen enough to make a sophsticated judgement out of five stars. That being said...
J.L.Howard's writing is charmingly cynical and descriptive enough to imagine visual expressions with ease. And the team behind producing this Audio book has outdone themselves again. I look forward to the next part of the series and hope that the same team helps produce it ad well.
Many thanks and kudos to the artists responsible.

    "Want more Johannes. Pleaseeeee."
If you could sum up The Brothers Cabal in three words, what would they be?

    Fast, Witty and Enjoyable

What other book might you compare The Brothers Cabal to and why?

Some Terry Pratchett books like Going Postal. Also, Jonathan Stroud comes to mind.

What does Nicholas Guy Smith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The contrast between the Brothers Cabal.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

    Yes

    Any additional comments?

How on earth does this book get nearly the same rating as trash like "The Never Hero: The Chronicles of Jonathan Tibbs"(4.40) and "Thinblade"(4.20)? Audible rating system is broken. Change it to a scale from 0-1 by getting rid of the most significant digit and I may agree.
