There are no happily ever afters in the new Undead World. There are no vacations or time-outs or do-overs. There's only the endless daily grind of living or the shockingly horrific fact of death that hangs over every living creature left on the face of the earth. For some, that death lies in a single mistake or a moment of bad luck, or simply in fate. For others, that hard death hounds them day and night, relentlessly. When a huge bounty is placed on their heads, Neil Martin's misfit family is set upon by ruthless bounty hunters. They are pursued by sociopaths, sadistic ex-soldiers, and, of course, the warped Believers of New Eden. There's no refuge, no place of safety, and no shining city on a hill that will take them in. They are outcasts and doomed to flee from their enemies until they're forced to make one great stand.

this book will take you up and down so many times you are exhausted after every chapter. Hard to listen to some times as yoir insides want to tear themselves apart... but you cant put it down and in the end you are glad you didn't.
"I CAME INTO THIS SERIES AT THIS BOOK!"
It was really confusing at first...because I ad no backstory...but as I listened, little things came about...and now I am on to book 4...maybe I should go back to book 1...but I gotta see what happens next!
This one is unique...the characters are just amazing!
** I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review **
I was a bit lost in the beginning...but as I listened, I got more of the backstory...starting this series at book 3 probably isn't advisable for most people..but being a long time zombie genre listener I get the drift of how this all started...and I should go back and start book 1...but I gotta see what happens to the group now and am on to book 4...this one right here is a tear jerker...with some of the most unique characters I have came across in a long while... Jillybean is an odd little girl...most likely split personalitied...but so sweet and smart...Neil is braver than he thinks...and Sadie has a better heart than she thinks...I am so sorry for the groups loss...and I have to see what happens next!
OK, we are onto book 3 and I thought that the story couldn't get better! Well I was wrong. This one was such a rollercoaster. Loved it!!!
Once again, we have a lot of characters, some old, some new! I find with these kind of books that it's better not to become too attached with a character because the author will usually rip your heart out!! Some of the old faces die in this one and my poor heart!!!
Anyway, we get to see a little more in depth incite of Jillybean, and boy is that little girl one tough yet broken girl! All I wanted to do was wrap her up in a cuddle!! Now Ipse is another matter, what a creepy soft toy!! Lol. That would totally freak me out the way Jillybean is with Ipse.
Again, the action and adventure is a plenty in this. The characters get themselves into some incredibly tough situations and not all of them make it. We also have the introduction of a crazy cult who live in a silo thingy! You could just imagine if something like that happened, you would get crazy cults happening all over the place.
In all, this is an amazing 3rd book in the series! I am quickly becoming invested in this world and can't wait for the next one to come to audio!!
Basil Sands is definitely a narrator that I can recommend. His voice is clear and he has [plenty of tones to match any situation. I need to check out some of his other work myself!!

"Grim But Good Zombie Story"
Very well narrated.
Character development, especially that of Jillybean and how a child copes with a world full of zombies and desperate people.
Interesting characters with lots of flaws and oddities make this book series more than your average zombie saga. Often it feels that the zombies are background players that frame the story, but don't play a major part other than to create the disaster everyone is coping with. The wide range of characters developed in the prior books struggle to survive and deal with the new normal. Characters aren't sacred in this series and bad things happen to them all.
The bounty hunter character started off strong but became more of a bit player. It would have been interesting to see this guy developed further.
All in all a good listen and well narrated, but start with the first story so you'll have the full character development.

"This is by far my favorite of the first three"
I'm trying to get my thoughts together so I can do this review.
First off, in my most recent review of The Apocalypse Survivors, I was basically cursing Peter Meredith because of the turmoil he has wrought. I had no idea what I was in store for. Had I known, I would have brought tissues!
First I cheered and shortly thereafter, I cried. This is by far my favorite of the first three but man does Peter know how to take your emotions through the wringer. This, much like the first two, does not let up. I was constantly in fear for the characters, beloved as they now are. I think Peter must have a sick fascination with taking his readers through the best times only to throw them back into the fire!
This starts out like the second. You do not have much that will allow you to understand what is going on without reading the series in order. The characters rely on the reader knowing about them. By book three there is so much to know, and so much they have gone through, that the reader will feel close to them. I know I feel completely absorbed by this story.
A couple of new characters are introduced in this one. One a complete psychopath bent on tracking and turning in this odd group. Their bounties are high! The other a Captain that almost rivals Ram (almost Captain Grey, almost) in heart.
The characters that were loved in books one and two are also back and although weary and ready for a good, long vacation, they are willing to fight. Sarah is the only one that I am totally annoyed with. She just makes the stupidest decisions and then wonders how she gets into her predicaments. She treats Jillybean harshly also and that alone is enough for Sarah to be in my unlikable list.
In short... I need book four like now. I'm going to be so sad when this fantastic and yet havoc wreaking story is over. These characters are amazing.
As for the audio and narration. I am in love. The story is impeccable and has to have a narrator that will keep up. Yet again Basil Sands does a marvelous job of not only keeping up but not making one hiccup in this entire tragically wonderful story. With a lot of go between with Ipes and Jillybean you would think somewhere there would be a slip. Either there was none or I was way too into the story to notice.

"another great book"
I wish Neal was a little bit more brave and not so screamish. But this is what makes the book so good.

"Another great book in the undead world series"
It's very good. Basil is a great narrator and the book was fast paced as well in terms of story progression. I really liked it.
I liked Jillybeans character and her psychological problems mixed with her savant style abilities. I also liked, and feel that it is important to mention, that this book whilst within a series offers a full story with an acceptable conclusion and therefore stands alone as a story. It's not just jumping or bridging the series.
I don't want to give the story away by going into detail but lets just say that the characters go through strife and hardships that test and strain them. It's good to see that not everyone who survives such a harsh environment is a shining beacon of moral virtue. It's tough to survive and survivors are tough.
It was well written and well narrated and I think that the author made the world seem harsh and real in a way that I imagine it would be. The characters were interesting and it was entertaining from start to finish.

Love these books, Jillybean is the best and the narrator is excellent, wish they'd make a TV series from the books!
and it was a struggle to finish, love Jilly Bean but the rest of the group frustrated me at times.
