Samantha Moon loses everything - her kids, her beloved, the very unlife she knows - when a powerful curse catapults her backwards in time, to Louisiana during the days of Marie Laveau.
Though she pines for the familiar world of the present, Samantha must move fast - the superhuman vampiric abilities she relied on in prior cases have been compromised by the curse, leaving her vulnerable to a new kind of lurking evil.
Now, her talents as a private investigator will be ever more critical. Can Samantha Moon unlock the key to the past and return to her present, or will she forever remain ancient history?

Let me just preface this by saying that I LOVE the Samantha Moon stories. I've read them all. I was excited to see that this book was on audible as I love listening while I commute and I had already bought this book to read on kindle. The first 5 minutes of the audible I thought maybe the narrator would loosen up further into the book. Nope. It's robotic. Sounds like an automated voice and it's terrible. I wish I could get my money back that it's so bad. I couldn't listen any longer because it was ruining it for me.
"Narrator ruined the story!"
The story was interesting enough to keep me listening despite the horrible narration. I seriously checked to make sure a human was reading the story. I thought maybe my phone had changed to Text-to-Speech, as I was listening in between reading on my Kindle. The narrator spoke in bursts of 2-3 words instead of full sentences most of the time, and she did not bring any sense of different character voices or emotions. Even though the book was good, I'm not compelled to go get the next one in the series. I am giving the story itself 4 stars because I thought it ended rather abruptly.
"If you like to have Siri read to you, then you'll like this"
This had to be automatically narrated by computer, there is no way an actual human being could read this way. I began to listen but just couldn't bear the jolting unnatural reading. I really wish I had read the reviews! Palm -forehead.
"The narrator sounded like a recording"
I couldn't wait for the story to be over as the narrator was just awful, speaking choppy. A second grader could have read this better. I found the tale unbearable just because of the narrator.
"probably a better read than listen"
I enjoyed this story even though I'm not so much into vampires. However the narrator sounded like an automaton and therefore seriously detracted from the story.
"arrrrrrrrgggggggg my head"
love the moon books but this narrator makes me want to smash my head in
I enjoyed the different character voices from the narrator and the pacing.
When Samantha finds out she's back in time... for sure.
I haven't, but I may in the future!
Samantha's sadness over the thought of never seeing her kids again.
Two ears up!
"Great story line.."
I received this audible edition for free for a honest review. I must say it's. a crazy good crazy good read.
no, the narration was horrible. if I had known I would never paid extra for it.
as a Samantha Moon Lover, I was really... really disappointed by the narration. ruined the book for me. Please go back to original narrator she was really good.
liked the story unfortunately the reading was a little hard to listen to very computer-generated feeling
