Sidelined demon summoner Kara Gillian has her hands full when dimensional rifts allow demons to cause widespread panic and destruction on Earth. These aren't the human-tolerant summonables she's known before, but demons from the far reaches of the demon realm. Add three demonic lords with conflicting ambitions to the mix, and Kara has the perfect recipe for global disaster.

I always enjoy this series, however, this addition has blown me away. It has major secret reveals and so much more. What a great setup for the next book. I was a little lost because a lot of characters are called by different names now, but in all honesty by the end I had them all sorted again. (Read the previous book a year ago) so happy for all the clarification. And looking forward to the next one already! :)
"Another Awesome listen."
I am Kara! Loved the story. Was sad for Zac & Ryan, happy for Jill..... looking forward to next book.
"Yet another winner"
I absolutely adore this series, and every time a new book comes out I mourn the fact that I will have to wait a year for the next about halfway through!
This is a progression of the Kara Gillian experience, however it is starting to show signs of sudden onset seriesitis.
"So Many Characters! Are we almost done?"
Overall I enjoyed the recent addition to Kara Gillian. The plot advanced nicely, and Kara discovered some life-changing secrets of the demons, including parentage and the connection between Earth and the demon world. We even got finally got the meeting between Idris and his demon father. I like the twists and turns of this series and that not everyone who at first seems like an enemy actually is and vice versa.
However, I agree with other reviewers who say it's time for this series to wrap up and conclude. It's gotten way too long, and with over a year between the book 7 and 8 I forgot a lot of stuff and it took awhile to catch up. Also, Ms. Rowland made the decision to add a whole new cast of characters and new demon breeds just mentioned in passing before. It made for a very confusing mess in places, and I had to back to earlier books or re-listen to certain scenes a few times to get what was going on. I understood why she did so, since Earth is now "at war" so of course Kara is going to be meeting a lots of new comrades and military types. But then add in the new military slang for weapons and demons and I was getting very annoyed!!
Fortunately, I had a paperback version which had the index for characters and demons species, etc. But it would have been more useful in the audio to have a summary in the beginning of the previous 7 books or to include the index in the beginning, making it easy for people to skip the first few chapters or go back if needed.
In conclusion I've really enjoyed this series, but I really hope the next book is the last!
"Time for the series to end"
Although the story was okay, it now seems to be going X-Files. Perhaps it's time to wrap up.
""All Good Things SHOULD Come to an End""
I have really enjoyed this series from the beginning, but the last two books have been too much. The books are too long, and they need to end. It is like watching network TV with 25 episodes in a season. Too much material to stay interested. I did not remember who any of the characters were in this go around, and there was NO way I was going to listen to the last book again. I was confused, bored, and ready for it to END! I am ready for the series to end! If the next book is not the last one in the series, I am done listening to it. I must add that I really like The White Trash Zombie books. I am really sad because Diana Rowland's books are the books I most look forward to downloading the new releases. I just feel like this is the never ending story.
No I would not recommend this series to any friends because there are humans having sex with demons. I gave it to my cousin and he deleted it as soon as Kara started to have sex with Rhyzkahl in book 1. I don't even like to tell my family or friends that I listen to these books. I know they are technically aliens, but Rowland should point that out more. I often feel like I could spend my time listening to something more edifying or educational.
She is a good narrator for the most part, but Jill's voice is BEYOND ANNOYING! It is so shrill! Liv talks so low where you cannot hear what she is saying, so I turn it up, and then Jill's voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard. This book needs to be tamed with some audio compression tools! It is an unpleasant listening experience when the volume on the voices go up and down and up and down and up.....You get the picture...
Yes. This book inspired me to focus my spare time on activities that are good for my brain, as these books are mindless entertainment.
I feel bad that I have given this book such a poor review. I do know that authors put their heart and soul into their works. I have mad respect for Rowland's time and imagination, but I just want to enjoy her hard work. Please end the series on the next book, and focus on a new series. Anything over 12 hours on these books is too much.
Love love loved this book in the series. Jam packed with action, intrique, reveals, and cliffhangers. I am ready for the next!
I enjoyed this one especially because you actually learn a lot of the motivation on the demonc. How they associate with each other and what they truly are. a must read, but there is more to come.
Anothet great addition to the Kara Gillian series. Can not wait for book 9 to see how Kara pulls off the unthinkable.
"Really Enjoyed this one"
Another leap in a different direction. This one much less dark and therefore (for me) more enjoyable than its predecessor.
The series has come a long way from the detective solving crime stories of the first books and is now about Kara and her posse saving the world.
Quite a few new characters and we learn a lot more about the demon realm and the history of the Demonic Lords.
Good story in its own right but also sets up for the next book, which I believe will be the series finale.
I found this one hard to put down
Liv Anderson as perfect a narrator as you could wish for for these books!
Now just have to wait for Diana to write "Rise of the Demon" to see what happens next.
