Cities were crushed by the falling spacecraft, but one ship didn't crash. It remained intact and disgorged hordes of alien soldiers determined to fight to the death. The abandoned vessels also contained a wealth of advanced technology.
Led by David Levinson, the greatest minds of our world developed deadly new hybrid weapons. Bases were built on the moon, Mars, and beyond. A new generation of defenders had to be trained, for the invaders would return.
In the headlong rush to prepare, however, not everyone would survive....

This book is a must listen to any and all Independence day fans. It successfully and wonderfully bridges the gap between the first movie and second and leaves you with just the right amount of questions to make you excited for the sequel. Well done by all
Wow! Very cool tie in between the two movies. I think it's a must read before you see the movie. If you liked the fist movie that is. It will make sense and will tie up any lose ends. Very well done, to me anyway.
It should go for an anime work up, that would be cool.
As close to a real sequel to the original film as could be hoped for. Have tons of characterization and weight to events in both films
Must listen to if looking forward to Resurgence! Catches us up in the upcoming release!
"Well done indeed."
Enjoyed this very much. Moved along all. was interesting to hear about the characters after the movie was done.
""Independence Day: Crucible" Review"
Terrific "listen"! Provided vital back story and filled in gaps to the butchered silver screen sequel to the original movie in an action-packed story! Terry Cleveland - Author of "Perfect Survival" at perfectsurvivaldotcom.
"Love this book"
Best book to listen to before reading the novel of the actual movie. I would read again since I am a big fan of the Independence Day movie and the book that go along with it.
makes excellent sense of movie in retrospect. for instance, what happened to Hiller and other aspects of the movie.
"Excellent Performance -- boring story"
I have to admit that the performance was refreshing, realistic and enjoyable.... however, nothing happens in this story ... I felt like I was in a chick flick!
"terrible excuse for a story"
avoid at all costs. this is even worse then the movie in the way of story and far worse is the performance
Basically a long description of what has happened since the first film and the upcoming second one. A good description, detailed, interesting, but ultimately nothing at all happens. Just a "now go see the movie" Cliff hanger. Don't waste money/credits on it.
"Disappointing - avoid"
After reading the "Fear Saga" this felt very average in comparison, especially the story. It simply didn't offer any thrills, twists or surprises. If you enjoy teenagers going through school, falling in love and preparing for the military then this has spades of detail - but realistically feels like a simple cash in for the film. Go watch the film instead. William Hope does a decent job in narrating - it's simply the story that's lacking. Shame as this brand owes to it lots potential. Recommend avoiding, and if you haven't already look instead at the Fear Saga for your sci-fi fix.
links the 2 films nicely, this focus on the children as they go through flight academy and try to live up to their parents saving the world.
loved it great book looking forward the next book if it as good as this ill well happy
