"Loving this series!"
I got through this book pretty quick. I didn't want to stop listening! I waited so long for this book. Hoping the next one comes soon! The story gets better with each book and the relationships between some of my favorite characters grow. This book has a bitter sweet end. Mikael Naramore does an excellent job with each and every character which is very difficult with so many in this book. Looking forward to the next book!
This book, like those that came before, is jam packed with action and intrigue. The narration was excellent. There were plenty of heart pounding battles won and lost, ending in death or worse. There seemed to be more tear provoking moments in this book. It is definitely not an HEA.
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audio book by the author, narrator, or publisher.
"Great Character Development"
Interesting story for grown-ups. There's not a lot of repetitive battle scenarios; instead, the author has better defined all the players and set up a bit of a mystery. I'll be happy to see this series continue.
"This book comes alive!"
This book ranks at the top of my audio book shelf. The reading was right on. The story continued to flow as the reader made the characters come alive. This was one where you didn't want to park the car until the book was over.
The magnitude of the story, the scope of the scenes can only be compared to the entire series. No other book I've read comes close to developing characters with heart, fear, compassion and ruthlessness.
The lust of power and control
The reader makes the story come alive as if he was writing it on the fly. This takes an enormous amount of talent. His way with pauses and inflection makes one want to listen to the book several times.
"Review "Incursion ""
“This audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review via Audiobook Boom.”
Mikael Naramore has given us another great narration. Mark Cooper continues the saga of war torn humanity in fighting against an alien species. He sets up under stories that will pull fully into the plot in upcoming books. There still is character development taking place which seems to slow the action pace and keep the plot resolution just out of sight. More answers are coming, keep reading:-)
"War is Hell"
This is a great audiobook. The narration is clear and engaging and the story itself is entertaining.
This book doesn't just focus on the battles. It also focuses on the price that civilians and others pay by surviving attacks. Battles that are won don't always seem so when the costs are revealed.
"Praise & Complaints - Spoilers"
The story starts at a run with the promised incursion, but then slows to a long slow walk through the Shan home world. It then picks up speed again for the rest of the book., thankfully. From here, the story builds to a promising end, but falls a little short by not utilizing the skills and creativity of the viper soldiers. I believe they would've resorted to gorilla tactics and armed themselves. The preview of the next book on the audio should have been the end of this novel. So, I will name this book 'book 5a' and eagerly wait for the rest of the story.
"Good narrator, story seems interesting"
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
Caveat emptor: This book is the 5th in the series and I have not read any of the previous ones. In fact, I am not finishing this book right now because I am going to start from the beginning of the series. That being said, this is my review based on about 1.5-2 hours I have completed.
The narrator is one of the better I've listened to. Good range of character voices.
Story seems interesting. Starts out in the aftermath of some alien war where humans are allied with at least one other race against a mutual enemy. The ally race has a lot of detail and we see characters from their perspective. Interesting enough to get me to start from the beginning.
I believe that if you are a fan of this series, you probably have been anxiously awaiting this sequel.
"The best Cooper has written!"
This may be the best book Mark Cooper has written (I "think" I've listened to everything that's available from Mr. Cooper here on Audible)... His writing skills have grown immensely since this series was started! This book is ultra-well researched, down to tiny details that many Non-Military, and/or Non-Engineering, folks may well miss, and I'm sure there are other details *I* missed from areas where I have no experience. Mr. Cooper doesn't 'beat you over the head with Details', he just tosses them into the story like a subtle seasoning. He obviously put a LOT of research into this book.
I LOVE watching authors grow! I said in a review of Book 1 that Mr. Cooper was only going to get better, and happily he's done exactly that! Can't wait for his next book!
Mikael Naramore's Narration is well timed, well read, well spoken, and just plain "well done"!
This is one of those rare teams that make 'the whole' better than the sum of it's parts!
"can't wait for the next chapter in this series and"
can't wait for the next chapter in this series and many more love the series
loved it !
once again marks words and mikhails voice knock it out of the park !
highly recommended to all .
If you're thinking of listening to this then you must have either read the books or listened to them!
This is far better than the previous book. it presents new characters and completes the circle for other's.
The story arch expands and gives greast depth. it is a long book but when you finish this you simply want more, you need to know what happens to the characters.
A good story resd very well indeed.
"please hurry with the next book"
another great listen very good story with interesting characters , Mikael narrates the story perfectly , each different voice is belivable many narrators fail there , please hurry with the next installment.
The series keeps getting better, but the overall progress is not moving much. Would like to see a bit more movement in the storyline's
"Deeper into the Wars"
See the reviews are complaining about the content, yes the book goes deeper into the politics and the emotional backgrounds and thoughts of the main characters as well as some new ones, however if you are going to create a worthwhile universe then you also have to have the background. The pace of the book is slower but I feel that it's more of a bridge between the start of a story and a move to a new chapter of the war. I enjoyed this level of detail and humanistion of the war amd what happens in the background after all it worked for the Honor Harrington universe and given time and hopefully lots more books then I feel that it's on the same road. Found the talents of Michael Naramore very appropriate to this type of book and shall also be looking at more of his work.
In summary some people may not find this ad enjoyable especially if it's just the battles you like but I think most will definitely stick with the slower pace and enjoy it just as much.
