After spending four years fighting for the Alliance, fighter pilot Alisa Marchenko wants only one thing: to reunite with her young daughter. But this involves a journey to her former home world, which has become the last imperial stronghold. Since the imperials have a lot of reasons to loathe members of the Alliance right now, just getting down to the planet will be a challenge, and it doesn't help that her passengers are stirring up trouble of their own.
Even if Alisa is able to land, she may find that more questions await her than answers and that her late husband kept a startling secret from her - one that could change her life forever.

"Space Opera at its Best"
No sophomore slump here. Everything I loved from the first book is still here and just keeps building and getting better. The characters are getting more fleshed out as well as their interactions with the rest of the crew. The same for the story line, more threads are being introduced and woven into the plot. Rescuing her daughter is getting more and more complicated for Captain Marchenko. Kate Reading' narration is as awesome as always.
"amazing story... still waiting for the romance"
again.... the is listed as a science fiction Adventure as well as romance. I was beginning to wonder if this whole story was about one battle...
as far the relationship building it's formed form barely tolerating each other to a mild flirtation . I enjoyed story enough that I've downloaded the third book they are a total and I'm hoping they get better as they go on this book was not as good as the first.
This story picks up where the first left off. the saga continues on with some new twists.
Once again an excellent narration Kate Reading brings life and of course good characterisation and depth and believability to the stories very unique individuals.
Lindsay Buroker has become another one of my favorite authors a great story writer I look forward to the rest of the series.
To me this is an excellent example of what a space opera should be. Yes it does remind me of "Firefly" just gritty enough to bring in real life.
And believability to all aspects of the tale.
I highly recommend Honor's Flight: Fallen Empire, book 2. The enitre series is great fun., full of action, adventure, and really good characters that draw you in. Kate Readings performance is excellent!
Mostly for fans that just enjoy the spending more time with these characters. Daughter is not found where expected but one clue leads to new arch. So running/fighting continues with intermittent character dumps. Readers can pick up plot in third book without missing much. Filler book that hardly advances plot.
Haven't read third book yet - reviews imply that that doesn't finish series either.
"love this series"
I have enjoyed this book the story is very well written and the narrator is great
"Similar to Firefly"
This series is similar to the Firefly films with the exception that the captain is a woman. What I keep wondering is where have I read, seen or know almost everything that is about to happen in this series. I didn't have it in my vast collection of audiobooks and the series is too new for me to have read it. But I knew what was going to happen in the first 2 books thus far. However, I enjoyed this book and Kate Reading does justice to any series she does.
awesome story not overly done just perfect made me feel like i was their it was just great.
"Excellent Action! Arrrgh! Hurry Up and Release #3"
I am really enjoying the story. Hurry up and release book 3 please! Kate is doing an excellent job of bringing this story to life.
"Reply of first book"
Continued story arc with little development and added almost nothing of interest.
Will try book 3 to see if any real story development is written in. Would like to see what happened to MC's daughter.
I like the way Kate expresses the engineer's snark.
Honors flight is too short to even be made into a single episode of a series.
Author does fairly good work, but needs to tell a new story in the next book. As it stands the first two books have MC having issues getting some item/info the. Having issues getting off planet, and finally getting into more trouble trying to get to a new planet. If book three reads the same, I am out.
