Publisher's Summary

A Fate of Dragons (Book 3 in the Sorcerer's Ring) takes us deeper into Thor's epic journey to becoming a warrior, as he journeys across the Sea of Fire to the dragon's Isle of Mist. An unforgiving place, home to the most elite warriors of the world, Thor's powers and abilities deepen as he trains. His friendships deepen, too, as they face adversities together, beyond what they could imagine. But as they find themselves up against unimaginable monsters, The Hundred quickly goes from training session to a matter of life or death. Not all will survive.

Along the way, Thor's dreams, along with his mysterious encounters with Argon, will continue to plague him, to press him to try to learn more about who he is, who his mother is, and what the source of his powers are. What is his destiny?

Back in the Ring, matters are getting much worse. As Kendrick is imprisoned, Gwendolyn finds it landing on her to try to save him, to save the Ring by bringing down her brother Gareth. She hunts for clues for her father's murderer along with her brother Godfrey, and along the way, the two of them will become much closer, united in their cause. But Gwendolyn finds herself in mortal danger as she presses too deep, and she may be in over her head.

Gareth attempts to wield the Dynasty Sword and learns what it means to be King, becoming drunk with the abuse of power. He rules ruthlessly, becoming paranoid. As the noose tightens on the king's assassin, the McClouds attack deeper into the Ring, and King's Court finds itself in an increasingly precarious position.

Gwendolyn pines for Thor's return, for them to be together, for their love to blossom. But with powerful forces in their way, it is questionable if that chance will ever come.

Will Thor survive The Hundred? Will King's Court collapse? Will MacGil's murderer be found? Will Gwendolyn end up with Thor? And will Thor finally learn the secret of his destiny?

What the Critics Say

"A breathtaking new epic fantasy series. Morgan Rice does it again! This magical saga reminds me of the best of J.K. Rowling, George R.R. Martin, Rick Riordan, Christopher Paolini and J.R.R. Tolkien. I couldn't put it down!" (Allegra Skye, Bestselling author of Saved)

"The Sorcerer's Ring has all the ingredients for an instant success: plots, counterplots, mystery, valiant knights, and blossoming relationships replete with broken hearts, deception and betrayal. It will keep you entertained for hours, and will satisfy all ages. Recommended for the permanent library of all fantasy readers." (Books and Movie Reviews, Roberto Mattos)

Really good concept yet the execution was sub Par. The narrator reads ridiculously slow. I had to speed up to 1.5x just to tolerate. Though he was slow, he did a good job.

"Narrator reads the wrong title for the book"
What would have made A Fate of Dragons better?

The fate of dragons would have been improved if the whole series felt more cohesive in the world building.

What was most disappointing about Morgan Rice’s story?

As part of a series this book seems to have no beginning or end. very unsatifying

How did the narrator detract from the book?

THe narrator read the Title of the Book Wrong!!!!! He called it feast instead of fate.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from A Fate of Dragons?

I would have made the whole dragon scene seem more "realistic". When readers suspend belief for a fantasy book the reader does not suspend common sense.

"Great story line & Narrator but the author sucks!"

Most grammatically annoying author ever! Oops, I didn't mean to use one of this author's favorite overused and abused adverbs on you. The only word verbally abused more you ask? That would be (feel)...

"Well worn tale loosely connected by too many words"

Author could be a talented 15-yr-old. This is a familiar medieval theme. S tory verbosely told in worn-out phrases. Vocabulary occasionally stretched beyond author's understanding. There is promise but needs a lot of work and a tough editor.

Would you try another book from Morgan Rice and/or Wayne Farrell?

After this book I'm not willing to continue reading/listening to more Rice books. Farrell did a decent job and he kept me interested and entertained while at work.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Wayne Farrell?

Yes, I would. I think he did well.

    Any additional comments?

I kept hoping that the writing itself would get better as the series went on. I liked book 1 and book 2 could have been part of book 1. I hate the whole stop mid sentence style of ending the books. I find it rather annoying. Rice makes some huge mistakes in book 3. He over uses the same phrases and concepts to the point of making you angry. He adds in things that don't need to be added. Without giving away spoilers there are things skipped over that never should have been. There are plot devices used over and over again that are unnecessary if Rice would just use the intelligence of the character to move things forward.

There is a lot of potential with this series. There is some great character developement and I did like the characters and cared about what happened to them. There are some things that were written unrealistically (Yes, I know it's a fantasy book but I mean logically). The world itself really isn't built well or at least there are some very confusing things in it and I suspect many of the odd and fantastical things are in it just to put some weird fantasy stuff in.

Also, Rice's sense of time movement is horrible. Yes, there are two suns but the way he describes things done in a day is very choppy and you have no sense of a true time frame of things happening especially events that are going on with different characters at the same time.

I'm usually pretty forgiving as far as writing can go. I listen to audiobooks for 8 hours a day at work, so I'm usually just happy that I was entertained for that time period. However, as I was going through book 3 in this series Rice just kept pissing me off with his decisions and writing. I was yelling at him while I was listening and working not believing some of the things he was doing and I don't mean to the story itself just stupid shit that I think actually interfered with the story being really good. I may listen to the 4th book just to see if maybe things get better but I have some other more entertaining things I'm going to listen to first before I send the author a personal email.
