Publisher's Summary

A deeply personal field guide to defeating your own worst enemy.

When you dream, you envision a magical future. You have heroically slayed the dragons and unlocked the creativity and genius buried deep inside.

But how do you actually get there?

You can analyze the myths of visionary creators - artists, writers, musicians, software developers, etc., who have accomplished the impossible. You’ll read about how they went for it, refused to quit, and would not be denied. But exactly how these successful creators went from being fearful dreamers to accomplished artists proves elusive. They seem to have secret sauce inside that you just don’t possess.

Running Down a Dream unflinchingly bares the naked truth behind all creations and shares the practical to-do list to take you from here to there.

The good news? You don’t have to be an Austen or a Michelangelo or an Oprah to create a work of art.

The bad news? There is no glossing over the pain, embarrassment, and financial terror necessary to contend with on your journey to mission accomplished.

More good news? What lies ahead for you is the realization of your heroic self. The run is worth it in ways you can’t yet imagine.

An honest and brave account of a creative journey.

Tim’s journey is inspiring and insightful. I have enjoyed listening to his struggles writing this book on the Story Grid Podcast so it was fascinating to be able to hear the finished copy. Thanks Tim for all that you share in this book and the podcast.

A brave and inspiring book.

I bought this book by accident! I had meant to buy Tim Grahl’s other book ‘Your First 1000 Copies’ but in my haste I clicked this book instead. I am so glad about my mistake. It was astoundingly honest, raw and inspiring. Just what I needed to hear, even though I hadn’t realised it. It’s a book about what life is all about and how to truly live in a fulfilling way. Thank you Tim for your courage in sharing your journey.

a cool listen

Hearing Tim go for it and enduring the stress and pain associated with his dream, was a good reminder that sometimes going for it is tough. The self satisfaction and pride you get from 'running down your dream' can pay off and in particular with feelings of satisfaction with one's efforts and pride for one's self.
A great book for some one lonely needing somebody to relate to while they are on there own journey. For me though the book came across a bit melodramatic and not essentially useful.
