Røveriet var ekstremt professionelt planlagt. Røverne var bevæbnet med automatvåben og bar skudsikre veste, de havde spredt partisansøm på vejene omkring gerningsstedet og placeret 11 brændende lastbiler, som blokerede for politiet.
