Publisher's Summary

In retracing the second and third missionary trips of St. Paul, Father Richard Rohr breaks open the life of this saint, recasting him as a mystic and as the first Christian theologian. Rohr presents Paul's revolutionary and all-embracing vision and invites us to enter into the mystery of Christ and be transformed. Rohr breaks new ground by applying up-to-date theories of our universe, integrating them with Paul's revolutionary thinking about sin, saints, and spirituality.

In his own voice, as he and other pilgrims travel in October 2014 from Athens and Corinth to Berea, Thessalonika, Philippi, and Patmos in Greece to Ephesus, Istanbul, Miletus, and Pergamum in Turkey, Richard Rohr presents Paul's revolutionary and all-embracing vision and invites us to enter into the mystery of Christ and be transformed.

    "A great spiritual journey!"

This is one of my all time favorite audiobooks with so much depth that I will listen to it many times in the years to come to help me grow in Christ as St Paul showed us how to do. A must listen for any serious Christian education study of Saint Paul.

"Really Didn't Have That Much to Say about Paul"

I have decided never to get a lecture audiobook from Fr. Rohr again. His books are better - I did enjoy Breathing Under Water. When lecturing, though, he is more likely to drift more aimlessly and get off topic. He also talks too much about what's wrong with organized religion - yes, there are problems, but that's really not what I'm needing to hear from him. Father Rohr has a strong tendency to be arrogant in his criticism of arrogance (if that makes sense). He also often talks of Catholicism as if it's just one of many equally good denominations of Christianity. I'm all for being inclusive, but if you're a Catholic priest don't talk as if you're ashamed of it. And please just stick to the topic!
Speaking of the topic, there is actually very little in this audiobook about Saint Paul - at least anything systematic. So if you're looking for a serious study of the writings of Saint Paul, this is definitely not the place.
Overall, I was very disappointed with this audiobook.

    "Relaxed theology for everyone"
What made the experience of listening to In the Footsteps of St. Paul the most enjoyable?

Richard Rohr demonstrates his intellect and his love for his subject and for people in this broad outline of Paul's role in the early Church.

Have you listened to any of Richard Rohr’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Always a warm and generous reader and speaker.

"Parts were excellent parts were annoying"

I love his teaching and he doesn't give you much room to think outside of his Franciscan box. There's almost an arrogance about his perspective which left me feeling diminished and underdeveloped because I did not always agree with his assumptions. I grew weary of hearing the term "tribal", feeling more like a judgement than a description when it did not line up with his perspective. With that said he brings a powerful message of hope and love and redemption for all.
