"Lovely collection of storeis"
This heartwarming collection of personal stories chronicles the authors personal struggles as a woman, a friend, a sister/daughter/mother, and just as a human being.
While I wouldn't call this a self-help book it is definitely inspiring. Time and time again I found myself re-examining similar experiences from my own life and finding places I could have been more kind or more generous and often with myself as well.
"Real life at it's best..."
Every female should read this. The author let's us into her life and shares good and bad, fears and triumphs, and shows us how real life looks. Shauna's personal experiences, told with wit and humor, show us how to learn to really live the life that we were made for.
"Authentic and Fresh!"
Shauna is a real woman that shares thoughts and struggles of many woman. It was like listening to one of my closest girlfriends tell me about her life. This book made me feel "not so alone" in this world!
"Funny and inspiring!"
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! Shauna's reading of her own words made it such a personal experience too. I felt like I was spending a weekend with a new best friend who was laying her heart bare in the most loving and funny and self-deprecating way. She confesses so many things that I could directly relate to, I felt safe in her grace and in her own imperfections. I highly recommend this book for all women - young and old alike!
"Loved it and will read again and again!"
This book offers hope for the hopeless, a smile for your tears, and healing for all of us who get hurt in this broken world. Worth the read/listen.
"This book uplifts my day :)"
I'm so grateful for the words in this book that are a reminder that the ordinary things are actually colorful and magnificent. It gave me perspective when I would wake up on a cloudy day and lose myself to the maelstrom of negativity. It was an absolute blessing!
This book was supposed to be rejuvenating for your soul. I heard alot about this book being what you need when you feel down but it left me depressed everytime I'd listen to it. It basically tells you that the author has felt sorry for herself alot in life and is deciding to now be happy instead. The end.
"I love Shauna! "
Great book! I love her writing style and love that she read it herself. I loved the last chapter so much I created a giant canvas on my wall to remind me of the beauty of a belly laughing God! As much as I loved this book, I consider it just an introduction to Shauna and recommend her books Bittersweet and Present over Perfect as a must follow up. I love them even more!
"Becoming and Being"
Shauna Niequist shares part of the season on her life of realizing life is more than brand names and skinny jeans. She shares eloquently how she moved past wanting the right size into celebrating the small, wonderful things of life!
"More of the same"
Usually an author-read book is great -- not this time. Where was the director? Some one should have suggested she SLOW DOWN when reading a book about gratitude and the reverence of every day life. She didn't give the listener a chance to contemplate, or even fully hear, what she was saying.
I may read a book by Shauna Niequest but I will not listen to another one.
