Publisher's Summary

"If you call the cops, I'll know. If you call the cops, I'll kill your son first, and make your wife watch...."

That's part of the note that is waiting for Dale when he gets home from work on an otherwise normal Wednesday afternoon. The note also directs him to a certain location, where there is another letter, giving Dale further instructions.

There is nothing special about Dale. He works as a contractor for a small power company and has no enemies. So it comes as a heart-wrenching surprise when someone kidnaps his wife and son, leading Dale on a very strange cat-and-mouse chase where the kidnapper is two steps ahead, leaving little clues and letters for Dale to follow.

And as the night winds down, each set of instructions gets more sinister. But Dale must complete every task set before him without question, and without calling the police if he wants to see his wife and son again. His only hope is to figure out who has taken his family from him. But how can he do that if the kidnapper seems to know his every move?

Pressure is a rocket of adrenaline from from the very beginning until the unpredictable ending.
