Publisher's Summary

How far will they go to get what they want?

Renee Rose was assigned to the newest judge in the 29th Judicial Circuit. Surrounded by murderers, rapists, and thieves (who are almost never in a good mood), at the whim of cranky judges, obnoxious attorneys, and baton-happy guards, being a court reporter is not your average job. At 44, still single 10 years after the divorce, still having fuzzy thoughts about her ex-husband even though she can't stand him, Renee leans hard on black humor to get through her day. In court she's literally surrounded by armed guards, but it isn't such a stretch to think a felon might follow her home one day. And now she has a problem.

A gorgeous but scary guy brought three dozen roses to her apartment, someone left money on her car, and somebody scared her friend so badly that she left town. All of this was weird but rather harmless, until Renee found a dead dog nailed to her front door.

Somebody wants something. But what?
