This is the second book in the Peaceful Warrior Saga. Neither a sequel nor prequel, this adventure takes place within the context of the original book, shedding new light on the path he was to travel, and would one day teach.
After a period of training with the man he calls Socrates, Dan Millman is sent away by his old mentor to apply what he has learned to everyday life.
Struggling with personal failure and growing disillusion, Dan sets out on a worldwide quest to rediscover the sense of clarity, meaning, and purpose he found with Socrates. Then, a long-forgotten memory drives Dan to seek a mysterious woman shaman in Hawaii. She is the gateway to all his hopes and fears - and the only one who can prepare him for what may follow.
Deep in a rain forest on the island of Molokai, Dan encounters mortal challenges, vivid characters, and startling revelations as he ascends the peaceful warrior's path toward the light that shines at the heart of creation. In this compelling tale, the author breathes new life into ancient wisdom and reminds us that all our journeys are sacred, and all our lives an adventure.

"Few people live and express the spirit of the peaceful warrior as eloquently as Dan Millman. His books are true teaching stories - entertaining and entrancing, wise and awakening." (Roger Walsh, M.D., Ph.D., professor of psychiatry, University of California, Irvine, and author of The Spirit of Shamanism)
"A balsam for The spirit!"
Loved it. I felt caught up by The story on every chapter. I felt This story is Spiritually uplifting
"Thanks for the love"
This book change me and has given me moor clarification. Thanks Dan see you soon. The White Oak.
Yes. Very inspiring and touching book.
I could feel the energy and emotions of what Dan went through. His teaching really felt in my heart. I was laughing and crying at certain moments. It made me reflect back on ,y life and got answers by myself on things I need to do to improve and move on. I have better sense now and more refined purpose in life.
"Not as good as Way of the Peaceful Warrior"
Yes, it is a great story on a variety of levels.
I was actually kind of pissed off when Dan essentially discredited this story and the one before in the prologue. Part of the enjoyment for me was the blurring of reality and fiction, to start out and say this is all a work of fiction and by the way so was my other book was very disheartening. I highly recommend that authors leave this determination up to the readers NOT start out by apologizing?
Sometimes authors are good writers but their vocal skills are lacking, Dan is good at both and I enjoyed his voice, inflection, tone, etc. In his first book, I felt that he brought the story to life but in this one I felt his disclaimer upfront hurt the authentic feeling from the onset.
Not really, I was hoping this would have been a stronger follow up to "The Way of the Peaceful Warrior" which was excellent, moving, authentic, and yes I did get lost in the book and even believing therein for extended periods.
Good book, well worth my time and purchase but just not as good as the first.
Great voice. inspires introspection and hope for deeper understanding of one's self. liked both books
"Something magical about Dan..."
An extremely moving story, a great listen and I'm on my third already.
I feel this is almost as good as Way of the Peaceful Warrior, the latter being a closer to "true" story, but frankly, it feels just as real.
Like Way of the Peaceful Warrior, it's 100% uplifting and inspiring, with no dark corners.
Perfect for people interested in love.
It was hard to stop listening! I listen while I drive to work, and it was tough to push pause. I will listen to this one again!!
"WOW. Dare I say it was even better?"
Was this possibly better than The Way of the Peaceful Warrior? Yes. Or possibly it was me that was more developed, further along in my own journey, so I was even more able to connect with Dan Millman's story...
The Answer doesn't matter. What matters is what I've become during the time I've been listening to this book.
Dan, I am grateful for the glass...
"An Amazing Story of Spiritual Growth"
I. so happy I have heard this book again especially after my son has had a psychotic break. Although in fictional form, this story is believable to me and sheds light on what may be going on for people dealing with mental illnesses-unresolved issues of the lower bodies. This is not what the story says but am inference I have made. The story is such a beautiful discovery of self and connection to others. I highly recommend this book.
Peaceful Warrior is one of my favorite books. This is a great continuation of that story. So many great lessons from Dan as I continue on my journey through life. His books have truly influenced who I am becoming. Thank you
