2012 marks the 60th anniversary of the publication of C. S. Lewis’s classic, Mere Christianity. Having sold over half a million copies in the UK alone, his overview of Christianity has been imitated many times, but never outdone. The book is comprised of the legendary radio talks which he gave during the war years.
Mere Christianity brings together Lewis’s legendary broadcasts from the war years; talks in which he set out simply to ‘"explain and defend the belief that has been common to nearly all Christians at all times."
Rejecting the boundaries that divide Christianity’s many denominations, C. S. Lewis provides an unequalled opportunity for believers and nonbelievers alike to hear a powerful, rational case for the Christian faith. This scintillating collection confirms C. S. Lewis’s reputation as one of the leading writers and thinkers of our age.

"He has quite a unique power for making theology an attractive, exciting, and fascinating quest." (Times Literary Supplement)
C.S Lewis gives such a logical progression of thought in this book that even as a believer, I'm even more convinced. I'd recommend this for anyone beginning a search for truth and for anyone who just wants to understand their faith better.
Really good overview of what it means to be a Christian. Good is doing extraordinary things with us. Some simple and powerful arguments for the obvious existence of God as the creator of all things. The narrators voice is just a little intense and devoid of feeling and dulls the power of the text, but it's clear and I had no problem listening to it.
"Superb - listened twice."
Mere Christianity rates as one of the clearest convincing explanations for the Christian faith I have yet to read. I can see why it is a classic.
"Really good read !!"
I enjoyed the insight that C.S. Lewis has into the Christian life and is not afraid of using his intellect to get that across.
I like the way that C.S.Lewis always relates his faith to the real world.
The human voice narrating a story brings a new dimension to the storytelling process compared to if you just read the book.
Jesus, as relevant today as He was yesterday.
"Help to understand"
As it is only my second book and the other was not good, this is the best I have heard.
This book helps Christians and non Christians to really look into why it makes sense to believe in God.The writer goes into real life things that can be used as proof of God. Great writing and delivered very well.
Truly covers everything, there's nothing CS Lewis can't explain and he does it all with logic and real world examples (and allot of metaphors)
A book that every christian should read. C. S. Lewis is definitely one of the greatest christian thinkers of modern age.
"Loads of wisdom and insight. "
stick with it, even though its a bit hard to follow at first.
A classic Christian book.
this is a timeless collection it is challenging and at times intensely so. Lewis'imagiative explanation and explorations aee still relevant 70 years on
love cs Lewis. explains himself brilliantly and has wonderfully honest and insightful ideas. read it. Biblical truths as well.
As inspirational and challenging as all of his books, C.S. Lewis cuts to the sometimes uncomfortably uncompromising crux of Christianity in its truest form
"A must read"
I have listen to it whilst doing almost anything i.e. walking to catch the train.
The whole book is really good, however when Lewis gives examples they are even more memorable.
This book is not character based.
I know that sounds a bit cheesy but most of the book is moving, however for the sake of the review, the example of god is like a father who is happy with his son's first faltering steps but will not be satisfied with anything less than strong strides when his son grows. God is easy to please and hard to satisfy.
This book is a must read for any Christian or anyone who wants to understand more of what Christianity is about. It is a bit old but does a great job.
