Publisher's Summary

It was supposed to be fun. A relaxing trip to a remote mountain retreat where there’s no phone reception. Three couples, friends since high school, are looking forward to a weekend of drinking, reminiscing and flirting.

When someone suggests swapping partners, it doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. The lights will be switched off, for privacy. It’s not really cheating if you don’t know who you were with, right? But when the lights come back on, one of the men is dead. No-one can agree who was in which bedroom with whom. Their phones don’t work, and the car keys are missing. They can’t get back down the mountain. And this killer is just getting started.

Now Senior Constable Kiara Lui has to work out which of them is lying, and why.

How can it be??

How could someone write a story with so many twists and turns, with such a diverse range of characters and make a book this good???
2 thumbs up from me 👍👍

Great Read

I really enjoyed this story, and it had me guessing until the very end. So many times I thought I knew who the killer was and then something would happen and I was totally clueless all over again. I will definitely be listening to more of Jack's books.

Couldn't Stop Listening!

Wow! Another fantastic story from Jack Heath! I started listening to this book on Monday and must have listened to it for about 5 hours throughout the course of the day, whenever I didn't need my brain or ears for something else, and then repeated this on Tuesday until the book was finished.

The story was suspenseful and interesting and had you thinking the culprit or culprits could have been a few different people pretty much until the end. There were also a few small twists thrown in here and there throughout. As far as a crime novel goes, I loved it. I also loved how it's set in the same 'world' or 'realm' as his previous book 'Kill Your brother' with the characters of Kiara and Elise reappearing.

I also really enjoyed listening to the performance by the actors. I always look up the actors to see who they are as I like to picture them in my head when I'm reading. I really only recognised Ryan Johnson (of Doctor Doctor fame) and loved the way he became his character. The rest of the actors or gave stellar performances and made the book as easy listen. Now onto the next Jack Health book!

A twisty locked room whodunnit

A fantastic locked room style whodunnit. That was a rollercoaster ride with me suspecting nearly all of the 'friends' at some point. The twists just kept coming.

They all start off as light hearted friends but the deeper into the book you go, the deeper the characters become and the more complex the relationships between them. Their convoluted lives, pasts, secrets and desires all become a melting pot, with it simmering until it boils over into murder. Stripping away the layers to get to the truth is a task I wouldn't envy.

I wish I'd known about Kill your Brother (the first in the series) beforehand but, from what I can gather, this can be read as a standalone. Perhaps the first book would have given a bit more context to the relationship between the investigating detective, Kiara, and her partner Elise (who Book 1 is focused on) for this one but not enough to impact the story.

A thoroughly recommended read.

Great Story

To be honest I wasn’t expecting much as this was a freebie, but I was pleasantly surprised. The story was told in present tense with surnames and in flashbacks with first names so you couldn’t match up who was who. There was multiple narrator’s which also worked well. I enjoyed it very much and will look for more from this author.

Kill your Husbands

Suspenseful till the end. Beautiful narration. At times needs careful attention due to the complexity of the story line
