Publisher's Summary
Other than rape or pedophilia, I can't think of a worse crime than patricide.
The killing of one's own father or mother, the two people who gave you life and love and nurtured you and took care of you is, to me, an unforgivable crime.
For example, the case of Jeremy L. Vennard, who, on August 8, 2001, killed his own father and stepmother in cold blood - and for no real apparent reason.
There had been no history of abuse at the hands of his father or stepmother. No recent arguments or disagreements. No history of any reason whatsoever why he would have felt compelled to murder them.
Yet, one hot August night in 2001, he entered his father's home and slaughtered him and his wife, with the only things to show for his trouble having been a wadded-up pack of cigarettes, some bloody socks, a small amount of marijuana, and some bloody one-dollar bills in his front pocket.
Not exactly a reason for committing patricide.
Yet, statistics show that the act of patricide grows more by each passing decade....
