Story
Special Agent Constant Marlowe is tasked with taking over the investigation of an obsessed serial killer trolling the small town of Clark Valley in the quiet—and eerie—plains of the Midwest. Two female victims in quick succession, the same brutal MO, and every indication that victim number three is only days away. Also in the killer’s scope is Constant herself. When she interviews a local family who may be potential witnesses, she leads the devil to their doorstep, throwing their lives into chaos.

Story
When an improvised explosive device is found outside a hospital, the understaffed Middleton PD knows it’s up against a pro. No one takes credit for the sophisticated device—all that Detective Jake Sloan has to go on is a poem. The cryptic rhyme surfaced shortly after the bomb scare. But ex-soldier and football player Sloan has never been much of a poetry buff. When a second verse turns up, containing a message in code, he solicits the help of English professor Ciara Hawkins.

Publisher's Summary
This is a terrifying new short story from authors Stephen King and Joe Hill, brought to you as an audiobook original by sister publishers Orion and Hodder & Stoughton. As USA Today said of Stephen King's Mile 81: "Park and scream. Could there be any better place to set a horror story than an abandoned rest stop?"
In the Tall Grass begins with a sister and brother who pull off to the side of the road after hearing a young boy crying for help from beyond the tall grass. Within minutes they are disoriented, in deeper than seems possible, and they've lost one another. The boy's cries are growing more and more desperate. What follows is a terrifying, entertaining, and masterfully told tale, as only Stephen King and Joe Hill can deliver.
Read by Stephen Lang. Stephen Lang is known for his roles in the films Avatar, Tombstone, Public Enemies, Gods and Generals, and Last Exit to Brooklyn. His work on Broadway includes A Few Good Men, Death of a Salesman, The Speed of Darkness, and Hamlet. On television, he has appeared on Terra Nova, Crime Story, and The Bronx is Burning.

Yikes!!
Well that was a little more... extreme than I was expecting! I think that must have been the influence of Joe Hill because I wasn’t expecting that from King.
It was pretty good, the characters were engaging and I was rooting for them to escape. The limericks were funny but I didn’t think they linked to the ending very well.
I feel like it came apart a bit towards the end, the dream imagery that Becky experienced was confusing and unnecessary I thought.
And all I can say is “yikes!!!!” about a certain event towards the end.
Do not read while pregnant.

Chilling, as expected
Typical Stephen King and Joe Hill chills! An intriguing concept, pulled off wonderfully. I had a small problem with the narrator, Stephen Lang, as he would often swallow the ends of sentences (particularly if the last word was “it”’ for some reason), which was slightly distracting - but luckily only slightly. All in all, great little listen for lovers of horror looking for a scrumptious snack rather than a meal.
