Story
Brotherhood and beer meets single mom and apple pie. I am a riding contradiction. A scholar, a cynic, a brother, and a biker. My name is Trunk. I’m smart enough to recognize the chip on my shoulder, and cautious enough to keep it right where it is. I am a misguided romantic. A mom, a daughter, an agent, and a survivor. My name is Jaimie. I’m strong enough to look after my family alone, and too stubborn to accept I don’t have to.

Story
In the dark alley of a pub, the words "Please don't" take hold of her heart and break the silence she seeks. Thinking herself beyond redemption, she tentatively grabs on to the slim thread of hope that unfolds inside of her. Holding her secrets close, she can't resist the comforting draw coming from The Skipper. The unconditional friendships it offers, the protective roof it provides, and the spark that its owner ignites in her - melting the frost off her heart, and slowly stripping away her resistance.

Story
Bookstore owner Kerry Emerson finally seems to be back in control of her life. Her failure of a marriage firmly in her rearview mirror and her recent business expansion a success, she is in charge of her own future. One that is looking better than ever. The sight of the tall man, with the familiar salt and pepper goatee pushing open the door of her store, sets her hair on end. He doesn't exactly bring good memories.

Publisher's Summary
Arlene Bowers is as tough as nails. She has survived a less than perfect marriage, managing to move past it to run her own diner. Her abrasive exterior has always been a way for her to hide behind the darkness and pain that she has endured, but a recent, violent attack and several disturbing phone calls have that tight hold on her emotions wavering.
Seb Griffin showed up in Cedar Tree eight months ago and was hired on at Arlene's Diner as a cook. An ex-con with secrets of his own, Seb walks a fine line. Since he began working at the diner, he's developed feelings for his fierce, stubborn boss, and the need to keep his distance from her, to protect her, is a daily struggle.
When it appears that Arlene's past has come back, rearing its ugly head while her defenses are low, Seb steps up and claims responsibility for Arlene, praying that he can keep her safe from whatever is coming her way.

Small Community, great friends & suspense!
So glad the audio for Hundred to One has come out, I had to listen, I love audio books! I think this is one of my favourite stories out of the series. Arlene is such a strong character, all brash and bite, she had such a rough ride throughout her life, but underneath she really is a beautiful soul and once she lets Seb in, they are a glorious couple. Her friendship with Emma is tight and a cackle a moment, when those two get together, the one liners are free flowing.
This book has such a great feel about it, small town, tight friends who would do anything for you, and the friends make lots of appearances in this book. Once again, we have an older couple with real life issues and health troubles, don't get me wrong, this read is still a great escape, even though there are some heavy issues addressed in this book. I adore the whole series. I thought the narration was great, I like both Tanya and Noel's take on the characters, I think Tanya's narration style actually improved for this book and was better than in the first book of the series. Definitely worth a listen.

grittiest one yet
I'm amazed, this series is in Freya's early days and wow. there is some serious gut-wrenching writing going on here. and I think the h was the gutsiest I've ever listened to. I cried for her in book 2 before eventually fist-pumping the air. mind you I gave her a hooyah in book 1...before it all went sideways.
we have daily life being revealed as per Freya's telling but 2 action-packed plots are going on at once. it was a definite hold your breath for a bit. and again I tried to piece the baddies. nope didn't see it! kudos to you Freya.
how ever not only does she have your heart racing it's also melting with the tenderness of our H and family.
I got a bit worried in one tenuous scene when I thought no, no. Sebastian, no...but he didn't fail me...yay! he's gorgeous.
this had more angst than book 1.
buuut....just when you think all is in the clear Freya drops another bomb. sheesh!
Just love revisiting old characters and seeing the makings of new couples.
and I love the nicknames the heroines are given.
The narration is awesome as usual.
