Publisher's Summary

If you want to be heard, you need to know how to listen.

Communication isn’t all about what you say. It’s about what you hear, what you notice, and how you respond. In short: it’s about how you listen. And despite leaders spending eighty-three percent of their day listening, only two percent of them have ever been trained in how to listen effectively.

At a time when we are more technologically linked than ever, our conversations have never been more distracted and disconnected—because most don’t know how to truly listen.

The result? You constantly fight to be “heard” over all the noise and distraction. You feel frustrated, confused, ignored, and feel like no one is paying attention. You are drained and tired of repeating yourself. Work conversations take longer than necessary because most people only listen to fourteen percent of what the speaker thinks and means.

In How to Listen, Oscar Trimboli, host of the Apple-award-winning podcast Deep Listening, shows you how to unlock your listening superpowers. Trimboli shares practical and pragmatic insights to help you notice when you aren’t listening—and what to do about it.

When you understand the art and science of listening, you’ll master the missing half of communication—and create a more powerful impact in your workplace and beyond.

A revelation!

'How to Listen'. It sounds obvious doesn't it? It's actually pretty hard!
Chances are you think you're ok with this everyday activity and you'll likely have delved into 'active listening' and levels of listening. Great! This is a good starting place to take the journey with Oscar Trimboli and really break down what it takes to become a truly 'deep' listener.
As Oscar states "The difference between hearing and listening is...ACTION"
'How to Listen' will guide you on the key action elements of listening - to self, for content, context, what's unsaid and for meaning.
What makes this audiobook stand out is the practical examples, exercises, tips and insights that are easy to implement in everyday life. Some of these have absolutely turned into new listening habits for me and I've seen benefits in my professional roles as a leadership coach, management consultant and board director.

Delightful experience on audio

I enjoyed the variety and diversity in storytelling, it kept me engaged throughout the entire book - a rare occurrence these days. As someone who has read Oscar Trimboli’s first book and a regular listener of the Deep Listening podcast, this book brought the “best of” stories together into a stellar production.

Loved 'How to listen' by Oscar Trimboli

What I love about Oscar Trimboli's 'How to Listen', is the depth that his own research adds. Oscar raises aspects of listening I have never considered. I will be incorporating his insights into my own communication as a mediator and coach. I have already recommend his books to many coaching clients, and teams I am currently working with. LOVE this book.
