Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Once, there were four worlds, nestled like pages in a book, each pulsing with fantastical power and connected by a single city: London. Until the magic grew too fast and forced the worlds to seal the doors between them in a desperate gamble to protect their own. I love you Leigh Bardugo
The first half of this was slow I’ll admit. It didn’t keep me in it the way Ninth House did but I’m also obsessed with Demon Daddy Darlington so that’s probably why. Love Alex. Love Dawes. Love Turner. Tripp ♥️. Mercy 🙌🏼. Just, yes. I can’t wait to see where Galaxy and Danny Boy end up next.

One hell of a story
Loved this follow up. Felt like was on the edge of my seat. Alex is a survivor & if you’re not in her corner, watch the hell out. Alex & Dawes are on a mission to save Darlington & what a dark adventure they’re pulled down. Am so ready for the next instalment !

Series just gets better
Narration: fantastic, characters: intriguing, story: better than the first book, tension: leaves you wanting more (in a good way).
I’ve listened to this book and ninth house 3 times over the past year and it won’t be the last time. They actually get better with each listen as you pick up on new bits and pieces throughout.
Only disappointing thing is that this will be a trilogy and not the 12 books Leigh originally planned!

Great tale, well spun, fantastic sequel
Another college teen drama? I moaned internally as I began the Ninth House, but I persisted at the behest of my book club and it was absolutely worth it.
I didn’t hesitate to dive back into the world of magic and demons with hellbent, already deeply in love with the protagonist Alex, and the setting.
The narration was on point, right up until Darlington’s point of view came back in with a male narrator, jarring the flow of the prose and confusing the established voices set for so much of the book, which was my only pet peeve of the prequel.
The story was a fantastically spun web of frustrating whodunnit and devilry that kept me intrigued from start to finish.
Well worth a read, well worth a listen. Can’t wait for book three.

Another great story
Leigh is a amazing writer whose young adult type stories have the level of maturity and complexity to be enjoyed by adults of any age.
Lauren is very easy to listen to. Great expression and ability to alter voices for different characters.

Mixed Feelings
I didn’t enjoy this one as much as I did the first book. It was very drawn out and quite repetitive at times. I’m not sure whether I’ll continue reading this series when the next book is released
