In the rush of modern life, we tend to lose touch with the peace that is available in each moment. World-renowned Zen master, spiritual leader, and author Thich Nhat Hanh shows us how to make positive use of the situations that usually pressure and antagonize us. A ringing telephone can be a signal to call us back to our true selves. Dirty dishes, red lights, and traffic jams are spiritual friends on the path to "mindfulness" - the process of keeping our consciousness alive to our present experience and reality. The most profound satisfactions, the deepest feelings of joy and completeness lie as close at hand as our next aware breath and the smile we can form right now.
Lucidly and beautifully written, Peace Is Every Step contains commentaries, meditations, personal anecdotes, and stories from Nhat Hanh's experiences as a peace activist, teacher, and community leader. It begins where the listener already is - in the kitchen, office, driving a car, walking - and shows how deep meditative presence is available now. Nhat Hanh provides exercises to increase our awareness of our own body and mind through conscious breathing, which can bring immediate joy and peace. Nhat Hanh also shows how to be aware of relationships with others and of the world around us, its beauty and also its pollution and injustices.
The deceptively simple practices of Peace Is Every Step encourage listeners to work for peace in the world as they continue to work on sustaining inner peace by turning the "mindless" into the mindful.

"Great approach to mindfulness"
I actually think this would be a great book to have in print. Everything is broken into small sections, so I could see myself bookmarking various pages, highlighting things, and then referring back to them often
Overall I liked how the book was formatted. Small mini paragraphs that focused on mindfulness in various aspects of everyday life
I really enjoyed the section where he talked about 'interbeing' and how everything is related to everything else
This is a book I can see myself going back to many times in the future. Full of great life advice, tidbits of wisdom, learned knowledge, and general advice on living a more mindful existence and being a better person. Great for people who are just becoming interested in mindfulness and meditation as well as for people more familiar with the topic. A must have addition to anyone's library
"Perfect on all counts"
Thich Nhat Han is always without peer, but this isn't always true of Audible narrators. Mr. Ballerina was perfect as the narrator. His voice is mature, natural, and warm.
"Be still and look more deeply into things"
For where I am in my journey it is tops
'The Power of Now' present moment awareness
No I haven't. I love his gentle approach, he is obviously one with the text
It made me smile
Edoardo Ballerini is the perfect voice to narrate Thich Nhat Hanh's teachings. Makes you live trully every story from the book.
"A pleasant read"
Thich Nhat Hanh presents a simple book which is vry easy to read and listen. The only caveat to this book is that it lacks depth. For those with a deep, inquisitive mind, I recommend "Conversations with a Mystic" by Sadhguru and Cheryl Simone.
"forever thankful ..."
this Thich was timeless and forever. pertinent now, then, and evermore. I was a little shocked that this was written in 1991 and yet applicable to all our days since. narrator was very good. PEACE
"A true jewel in the lotus."
Beautiful poetry for the heart. How to walk mindfully in daily life. The path to freedom and truth.
Everyone should read this book at least once in their life. sooner rather than later.
"60% teaching, 40% political and personal agenda"
I enjoyed the book up until political and personal agenda took over and the teachings stopped. If one can extract the teachings it's not too bad of a book. Highly disappointed at how the book changed and wandered off the path.
"Wow! Just what we need to hear right now!"
Concrete loving the steps to make our world a more peaceful starting with a peaceful heart
Beautiful and inspirational. Well read and a compass for life. If only the world could live by these words the suffering of humanity would be less and the world a more peaceful place.
This eloquently narrated little gem contains everything to feel the simplicity of peace moment by moment. In a step...smile...breath...Each time I listen, I experience further insights and depth. As a success coach-free spirit with an extended family, this is the perfect balancing that feels balm to my soul.
"Got lost in the last chapters"
I felt the last chapters become more about activist and political views. I was not expecting this and it did not seem to fit with the rest of the book.
