Pain, suffering, and stress can be intolerable - but it doesn't have to be this way. Mindfulness for Health reveals a set of simple practices that you can incorporate into daily life to relieve chronic pain, suffering and stress. Clinical trials show that mindfulness meditation is at least as effective as the most commonly prescribed painkillers and can be more powerful than morphine. Mindfulness can also significantly reduce the anxiety, depression, irritability, exhaustion and insomnia that can arise from chronic pain and illness.
Mindfulness for Health is based on a unique meditation programme developed by Vidyamala Burch to help her cope with the severe pain of a spinal injury. The Breathworks Centre founded by Vidyamala - and its affiliates around the world - have helped thousands of people cope with pain, illness and stress. Its pioneering approach is praised by Professor Mark Williams of Oxford University, Jon Kabat Zinn, and Professor Lance McCraken of King's College London. The eight week programme at the heart of this book takes just 10-20 minutes per day. You'll be surprised by how quickly your suffering melts away, leaving behind a deep-seated love of life. This title includes eight guided meditations which appear throughout the audio, as well as being collected at the end.

This audiobook has really helped me. It has helped me to learn about mindfulness ( I didn't know anything about it before I began) and to manage my chronic pain. I am very grateful to the authors of this book. I will persist with mindfulness for the rest of my life.
This is just tne same olf crap trotted out om the Mindfulness for Creativity. and other books by the same author(s). It doesn't work and is old Kabat Zinn rehashed . Don't waste good money is my advice. Nothing helps chronic pain except drugs after 25 years I know.
I have attended mindfulness courses and read and listened to many mindfulness books and this is definitely one of the best. If you are suffering from pain or illness and have never tried mindfulness, this is a perfect place to start. Vidyamala Burch has personal experience of chronic pain and her own use of mindfulness techniques to help with this is extremely inspiring. She narrates this beautifully- her voice is empathetic, soothing and inspiring. This is also a fantastic listen, if like me, you already have some experience of mindfulness meditation. The mindfulness exercises at the end of the book are some of the best I have found on audio.
I'm going to soon, I got so much out of it the first time and am sure the second will reaffirm the inner peace and warmth this book helped me find.
An amazing start to a journey into mindfulness for me, and a book that a plan to return to many times whenever in need of a little guidance. I'd recommend this to anyone suffering from pain, mental, physical or both. Well written, in a way other self help books aren't, this one really doesn't make you feel to blame. Gives you knowledge and techniques, and guides you in how to apply them.
Yes, I have recently been introduced to idea of practising mindfulness after suffering from chronic pain, I would recommend this book to a friend as it has helped me greatly.
I found the authors narration very easy to listen to, this also helped with following and understanding the techniques involved.
"Excellent pain management tool"
I'd recommend this book for anyone who needs to develop some pain lowering calm in their lives. Do you get grumpy from your pain levels? Is life a chore because of your Chronic Pain? Then do try listening to this book. It can revolutionise your life! 😃
"The perfect guide to mindful meditation"
This book could potentially change your life. It is an easy to follow guide to mindful meditation. I bought it to accompany the course and love it.
brilliant, really love the meditations and the calming voice of the narrator. :) thank you
"Ideal for audial? learners"
I struggle to process written word and try not to let this be a barrier to learning. To have a book on mindfulness narrated by the same voice as the mindfulness tracks themselves is wonderful. I've re-listened to many sections preceding a track as a scene setter to practice. Thankyou MfH and Breathworks creators for the whole experience. Kath Woods our 8 week physical course teacher has also been a joy. Please don't hesitate in getting this audible offering if you struggle in any way with texts.
"Brilliant brilliant brilliant"
I use this audiobook every day. The meditations are beautifully paced and read. Well done guys.
If you're in any kind of pain I cannot recommend this highly enough.
