The Bhagavad Gita is a gem so precious in India's spiritual treasury that many regard it not as a volume of sacred verse, but as a living manifestation of the Divine. In the summer of 1974, inside a balmy Boulder, Colorado, warehouse that served as a main hall of a fledgling Naropa Institute, some say a minor miracle occured: The reawakening of the Gita's living presence, as it unfolded in a series of wisdom teachings led by Ram Dass. With Love, Service, Devotion, and the Ultimate Surrender, you are invited to experience these legendary gatherings.

"Absolutely the Ultimate"
If you are looking for the clues in the spiritual world-then this one is a must hear! I bought most of Ram Dass' audio books and this one is supreme.
My favorite listen during my recent battle with the flu was 12 hrs of Ram Das explaining the Bhagavad Gita. (Recorded in 1974) I like the part in the Gita where Ram Das and Timothy Leary get fired from Harvard for ordering a half million dollars of LSD for research. Feeling much better now- Namaste, Granmonkie
"Wow!!! An American mystic."
Ram Dass delivers from his heart the path to Consciousness, God and Love. Having followed a spiritual journey for many years it was delightful to find in a 1974 recording a history that somewhat parallels my journey and it's many twists and turns. In 1974 I would have thought he was out to lunch, not knowing that in 2011 I would love to be lunching with him discussing this path. I especially love knowing that he simply taught and was not invested in Ego's rewards or worried about what the future would bring. This is a treasure, read in his own young, strong voice. Namaste
"Bhagavad Gita for Everyone"
Recorded in 1974, this book provides a fascinating look back at Ram Dass, and it serves to show us why he was, and still is, such a popular spiritual leader. His tone is casual, he spins stories as though he was hanging out with a group of friends at a cafe (or even a bar), and he gently guides the listener through many of the most important messages in the Gita, a book that can be pretty intimidating at best. This is one of the finest spiritual pieces I ever did hear (or read).
"Great as always"
Ram dass has one of the greatest deliveries, and doesn't disappoint with this one!
His comedic timing is uncanny!
yes, 12+ hours
"Phenomenal work of art!"
perfectly right on!
Ram Dass is a masterful storyteller! Honest, authentic, beautiful!
This is the first Ram Dass book I have listened to.
Lots of laughing.
It does show a path to free yourself from the worldly chain of desires, pain, ecstasy, joy, grief etc. most importantly teaches you to do things consciously and everything else will flow like a river.
Ram Dass is so down-to-earth and authentic. the lessons are pouring in this audiobook and I'm grateful for this Bhagavad Gita interpretation and discussion.
Ram Dass is amazing to listen to. His intellect, comprehension, wisdom and ability to articulate is second to none. His honestly, generosity, love, kindness and humor warms my heart so much.
I would recommend this to anyone.
"Incredible! Connect to the unmanifest!"
I would recommend reading the Gita, and getting it on audible, but it isn't needed to enjoy these talks.
Ram Dass's lectures are very good. I learnt so much from his talks. I will listen to it again several times as so they are very deep. I am a student of Tibetan Buddhism and Ram Dass's talk on the Bhagavad Gita has really helped my understanding of Tibetan Buddhism. Thank you Ram Dass.
"What a trip!"
Loved it! Anyone with an interest in spiritual texts would enjoy Ram Das' storytelling style.
"Going deep with Ram Dass"
An excellent series of talks from the most brilliant speaker of the 20th century. Highly recommended!
Ram Dass at his most eloquent, witty and humble. He speaks the truth, and there was very little I could find reason to disagree with. But if I did, he made the space in which to do that. The last chapter it probably worth the purchase alone.
A wonderfully intimate feel to this canonical audio recording of Ram Dass. As usual, Ram Dass helps you along your own path by pointing out the key pitfalls to avoid, based on his own experience, in order to help you achieve what you can in this life time. I have listened to it tens of times already; and each time some of the stories have taken on different meanings depending on where I am on my own journey. Now that's value for money!
"A multiple-listen lifesaver"
This is one of the best spiritual talks I've ever heard. A younger Ram Dass floats the wisdom of the Gita through your mind with such naturalness that lines which you overlooked initially cook in your mind and come back to you years later. Listen to this once and you'll have a guru on your shoulder for a lifetime. RD is sincere and funny, honest and self -deprecating. The audiobook is comforting and invigorating. It's a gem.
"Not a great experience"
I was really hoping that this would give me new insights into the Gita to help me engage with it at a deeper level. Instead I found it to be a lot of self-indulgent twaddle.
