From infancy we are taught to edit ourselves, trimming out the darker, weirder, less acceptable parts in order to please others. But this addiction to approval is holding us back. What if we begin to be ourselves, honestly and fully?
Insanely Gifted shows how to transform our thinking and turn our inner demons into allies. How to reframe disappointment (because not getting what we want can be as interesting and useful as getting what we want). Through techniques to become aware of our Inner Critics and exercises such as Full Body Listening, Catto invites us to better know our deepest instincts and unlock our true power.

Loved this book so much I listened twice in a row with plans to read again with more interaction and completion of tasks the third time through. brilliantly delivered, utterly inspiring. Loved it.
Jamie's voice is soothing and entertaining whilst delivering an array of highly practical spiritual insights that can be incorporated into daily life.
"Playful self-help for living a fuller juicier life"
"We turn up to work every day pretending we're not neurotic and obsessed and insatiable and full of doubt, and we waste so much energy keeping up this mutual pretense for each other because we think if people saw the truth, if people really knew what was going on in our heads, all the crazy truth of our dark appetites and self-loathing, then we'd be rejected. But in fact, the opposite is true. It is when we dare to reveal the truth that we unwittingly give everyone else permission to do the same."
"Light and deep at the same time"
Jamie walks the talk. He is refreshing. He is not afraid to be vulnerable and share some very personal experiences and feelings to make his point. He encourages us to be walking permission slips and he is being just that for us. He also offers some very practical exercises and tips for us to go deeper and manages to make some somewhat complex concepts very accessible.
Yes and no. Yes because it was so enjoyable although spending some time reflecting on how the content related to my own life before getting back into it was very valuable.
I'll be doing some things differently as a result of this book and will definitely be a better parent.
"Open Your Mind"
Free thinkers and those who are prepared to challenge their own limiting beliefs will love this book. Jamie Catto is obviously Insanely Gifted and wants to help you turn your demons into your greatest allies. A truly inspiring book.
"A fabulous read!"
A beautiful and insightful read. Very sound views and advice on not only on perusing your creative ambitions, but living life less seriously and with more joy.
"Refreshingly self helpy"
A great, authentic, witty and opinionated manifesto of how we should turn up in the world. Jamie offers some challenging but revealing exercises to help us uncover our limiting beliefs and use that knowledge to become unashamedly authentic and powerful. I enjoyed it but be prepared to read this with a fully open mind.
"The best personal development book I have listened to"
I have read or listened to many personal development books. Most are based around one or two fresh ideas but then are padded out or overly quote from other books in the genre. This is a stand out book with many ideas that are new to me and that I'm looking forward to try out in my work and personal life. It is thoughtfully spoken by the author
"Useful, honest and self-effacing"
It's an engaging and worthwhile guide to harnessing your idiosyncrasies to enhance the human experience, but he is a bit of a yogurt weaver at times.
I love the idea of us all having a shaddow side. maybe this is what will liberate us all. Bring on the revaluation.
The audio and print versions are as good as each other although hearing Jamie deliver a "yum yum yum yum..." might give the audio version a slight edge! ;)
There are so many great moments in this book and so many practical pieces of advice to take on board and useful activities to undertake that I can't/won't pick one moment. Every chapter is as juicy as the next!
I really appreciate Jamie's honesty and all that he reveals about his own highs, lows, experiences, lessons, challenges and changes. He's completely open-hearted with all he shares and writes about and his witty anecdotes and moving insights are brilliantly balanced. His mix of vulnerability, passion and determination is a gift to the reader.
How to be perfectly flawed...Maybe? ;)
This book is rich and ragged, mighty and tender and so so so helpful and full of love. I love it.
"Everybody needs to read this book!"
Learning to know who you are is what some might call 'the alchemy of happiness'. I've been fortunate to attend Jamie's workshops and to inhale his guidance several times. In listening to his audiobook I found myself recapping all the wisdom he shared and more. There is clear background research for those that love that kind of thing and lots of practical narrative that comes from first hand experiences. Jamie's reading style is gentle and engaging and the content speaks for itself. We are each amazing, creative, crazy beIngs and there is sooo much untapped potential in us all. If you want to find out how to unleash your beauty on the world and dive in to life's great gift then read this book or listen to the audio.
"interesting introduction to introspection technics"
Even though some bits seemed quite esoteric to me it made me think quite a lot.
You don't have to follow all the activities to get the take-home message, but I think I'll give it another listen in a few months to try that out.
I loved the last chapter
