Parents in our post-modern world tend to be committed to but anxious about their child-rearing responsibilities. They have tried countless parenting books on the market telling moms and dads what to do and how to do it. Many of these are rigid, fear-based books that leave a large number of parents feeling directionless. Now, there is a grace-based solution from Dr. Tim Kimmel, founder of Family Matters ministries.
Grace-Based Parenting is a refreshing new book divided into two parts: the needs we are trying to meet in our children and the delivery system for how we meet them. Kimmel recommends creating a grace-based home environment that allows children to meet their full potential, to parent children in the same way God parents us. He presents a child's true needs -according to Scripture - and provides parents a realistic, do-able way to meet them.
The result: spiritually strong children who grow up with a sense of calm and a heart full of purpose and confidence.

Yes. It gives specific examples of what to say to your children in different instances and how to handle difficult issues.
I liked that the author continued to stress the importance of focusing on our own family.
He has a nice voice and was believable. I felt like I was listening to a counselor.
I liked the beef sessions without excuses. I think kiddos as they get old would really like that and too, I think it models brilliantly how to listen.
A must read for every parent. Especially parents who want to truly communicate the LOVE of God. It was revolutionary for our family. I kept saying out loud, "I need to listen to this again. Wow."

Passionate, direct, didn't distract from the content
YES! And I DID! On a road trip.
Are you a parent? LISTEN TO THIS BOOK IMMEDIATELY. I am not kidding. You will be so glad you did!!
"abridged version is good"
hoping that the author records an unabridged version for busy parents. enjoyed the candid stories
I'm a first time mom of a 2 year old. Both my husband and I come from non-Christian homes and wanted to learn more about Christian parenting. Learned a lot of wonderful things about loving like God loves. Plan on reading and re-reading this book over and over for the next 16 years!! Thanks so much! God bless!
"Solid author with a good foundation for teaching."
Our Christian Therapist also loves this author and recommends content from them. We've read many books about parenting and coparenting. This is a good book and teaching to have available.
Don't waste your money! This is an abridged version. Very dissatisfied. The book was great until it just abruptly ended and stated it was abridged. Never saw this listed when purchasing.
"A framework for parenting the way God treats us"
I recommend this book to all parents! The grace-based approach really applies to all relationships not just parenting. Rather than focus on a set of techniques designed to modify behavior, Kimmel presents
"Very convicting and challenging book!"
This is one of those books that I will be going back to and read and referred to for many years to come.
