Publisher's Summary

From the millionaire entrepreneur and New York Times bestselling author of The 10X Rule comes a bold and contrarian wake-up call for anyone truly ready for success.

Before Grant Cardone built five successful companies (and counting), became a multimillionaire, and wrote bestselling books...he was broke, jobless, and drug-addicted.

Grant had grown up with big dreams but friends and family told him to be more reasonable and less demanding. If he played by the rules, they said, he could enjoy everyone else’s version of middle class success. But when he tried it their way, he hit rock bottom.

Then he tried the opposite approach. He said NO to the haters and naysayers and said YES to his burning, outrageous, animal obsession. He reclaimed his obsession with wanting to be a business rock star, a huge philanthropist, live in a mansion, even own an airplane.

Obsession made all of his wildest dreams come true. And it can help you achieve massive success too. As Grant says, we're in the middle of an epidemic of average. The conventional wisdom is to achieve balance and take it easy. But this has really just given us an excuse to be unexceptional.

If you want real success, you have to be obsessed and know how to harness that power to rocket to the top. This book will give you the inspiration and tools to break out of your cocoon of mediocrity and achieve your craziest dreams. Grant will teach you how to:

· set crazy goals—and reach them, every single day
· feed the beast: when you value money and spend it on the right things, you get more of it
· shut down the doubters—and use your haters as fuel

You can be obsessed...or you can be average. It’s your choice. Why not start going full-throttle towards your obsession today?

Some good information and a lot of blah-blah-blah.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

While I agree with a lot on information in this book and it's true no ever gets to be great without being obsessed by their goals and putting in massive amounts of work to get there, I felt like listening to this audible book was a bit of a slog.

I know from my own experience that much of what Cardone is saying is actually true - being at the top of your game is not a walk in the park and success rarely comes without a burning obsession driving it - I felt much of what was valuable in the book really could be summed up in the title. Nothing more really needed to be said. Be obsessed or be average. It's pretty much that simple. The rest is just filler.

Would you recommend Be Obsessed or Be Average to your friends? Why or why not?

Well, I wouldn't not recommend it. I didn't agree with everything he said but I did agree with a lot of it.

I think it gives a good insight into what it actually takes to be successful. Everyone I know (including myself) who has any degree of success does so because they were willing to put in the time and the effort to get there. I just don't particularly like Cardone's style of delivery. He spends too much time talking about himself, which is cool, he's talking from his own experience, so, you know, there's that. I just found him annoying and a lot of what he said was just blah-blah-blah to me, particularly because I felt like he was wasting my time telling me how good he was when I just wanted him to get to the point and give me the information.

What three words best describe Grant Cardone’s performance?

Loud. Egotistical. Abrasive.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

Yeah ... nah, I don't think so.

Any additional comments?

Look the information is good and some might even find it motivational. If you don't mind the author's loud, self-aggrandising style you will definitely get something out of it. It's a good reminder for anyone hungry for success in any industry that it takes more than just a desire to succeed. It takes hard work, sacrifice and a burning obsession to be the best.

But like I said, everything you really need to know can be summed up by the title. 'Nuff said.

Thanks for the effort but I didn’t like it although there are some good points there.

Out of balanced life, not my type! Poor employees that are working in his company. Too much and too demanding in my opinion.
Thanks anyway

What the load of crap...

A constantly repeated message "be obsessed " as of we're some kind of a zombie. The alternative to this book is to watch the 3am religious TV shows where people act having their diseases cured by a touch of a priest. Good luck with that.

THE ONLY BUSINESS BOOK YOU NEED!

Loved Grant's philosophies on being obsessed in business, loved the flow of the book, the content was so rich and actionable and I LOVED Grant as a narrator and how he emphasises major points in the book. Absolutely sensational and I'll be listening again and again!

I wish I could delete this from my library

honestly, it's like a sales pitch, it's irritating, loud, annoying, over the top

I can't really say much else because I stopped listening to it.

Having said that. he is an incredibly successful man. podcasts with him on (why I bought the book in the first place) ARE MUCH BETTER. For this book you need to be already vibing super high for this to add anything to your life. if you're just the everyday person wanting to improve your life or learn some lessons -i would not recommend this book.

The 10x Rule was WAY better

Grant definitely delivers pain and engagement, but there was simply too many things I don't agree, believe and stand for in this book.

Too OTT for me!

I couldn't get into this book, I gave it up after a few chapters. The author's message and manner were just way too exaggerated for my taste.

Total game changer

This book isn't for everyone. It's for the crazies. But if you're someone who wants to do extraordinary things and change lives, this book is next level. A game changer. Usually I don't do audio books but get some of Grant Cardone's excitement into you like it's on a IV drip and don't look back. Be obsessed.
