"This is a hard look at relationships"
Here Deepak Chopra answers questions from individuals who ask for help in relationships. For those of us that have been in long term or long lasting relationships this book will help. I warn you that Deepak doesn’t pull any punches. He tells you like it is and is very honest. When reading this book you’ll see how Deepak Chopra deals with some very difficult situations that many of us find ourselves in, but rather than dealing with them we’ll walk away. Walking away doesn’t deal with the situation or the core issue. All it does is make it worse or hides it until it can surface later when we least expect it. Take some free advice and keep an open mind while listening to this book. Listen to what other people are saying and learn from them and you’ll be grateful you did.
"I'm sure some of it is helpful to somebody..."
I only made it to ch 7, I might finish. But I couldn't get past the style of the book. Basically sounds like a never ending dear abbey column, I didn't want to hear quite so many testimonials. Not sure what I was expecting.
I was so surprised that I just couldn't make it through this book. Found it a bit self centered.
"Scattered topics - many odd & rare"
Difficult to get into because many of the topics Deepak covers were strange and disturbing. Not his best work
"Educational and interesting"
I liked the question and answer format as it made for something different to listen to during my long drive. The content was excellent. Listening to Deepak Chopra is always enjoyable for me as I enjoy his voice but I found the woman narrator who he paired with annoying to the point of wanting to turn it off and did several times. I thought she added too much drama and overly emoted the reading of the letters. I know many of them were quite emotional but for my tastes it was too much.
"Want To Feel Good? Avoid This Book!"
This should have offered more realistic relationship advise and featured less twisted stories that most listeners could never ever relate to, even if they tried.
Many other books in this genre offer much better advise than this book. Going way back to author Barbara DeAngelis, or more recently Gary Chapman's books, both of those authors and others have more realistic stories and much more relatable problems.
Joyce Bean's performance was annoying. I have never heard a female narrator pretending to sound like a man when she read letters written by a male. Why bother? It's so disconcerting. Just read the stories! Deepak Chopra was fine. He was the expected Deepak. However, whoever produced this book and built the letters, the questions and the answers missed the mark entirely. This is a very depressing review of life at it's worst, making the reader or listener trudge through the mud and the muck. And, what have we achieved in the end? If anybody actually feels better after hearing, I would be amazed. If you have these kinds of serious problems, you need to see your own selected licensed therapist instead of seeking quick answers from an audiobook. Very, very disappointed in what I heard and I felt totally deceived by the way this book was marketed toward us.
Huge disappointment. A total waste of time and money.
In the future, I would hope to see more thoughtful choices before promoting something as a special purchase.
I love his books and this one was amazing as well
I could identify myself with most of the characters one way or another
hard to say as it not really about favorites to me
a gurus advice and guidance
Before i bought this book I was reading the reviews. I DON'T AGREE AT ALL with the negative reviews. I can identify with most of the characters one way or another. I'm not gay or have any intention to commit suicide, but even those stories i could find something in that relate to my life and more than anything, the answer Chopra gives is the important thing. and his answer can be used to relate to other parts similar to the story given in my own life.
I THINK IT WAS AN AMAZING BOOK. and i also think it was preformed very good by both Deepak Chopra and Joyce Bean. Don't get discouraged by the bad reviews it is a good book!! and with a open none judging mind you will find much guidance!
