The master of everything has found his match. Jared Westin knows his reputation and likes it. He gets the job done. No emotion. No baggage. That's why his elite ops company, The Titan Group, is better than the best. They complete projects classified as mission impossible.
And then, in walks a woman as tough as she is sexy. His counterpart in every way, should he choose to admit it.
She's not willing to let her heart fall. Ousted undercover ATF agent Lilly Chase only answers to "Sugar". Jared is the only man who can see past her leather-and-lipstick demeanor, and that revelation is terrifying. She was fired for helping Titan on a questionable arrest she should've ignored, then partnered with Jared's rival on an assignment in Afghanistan.
Distance and danger do nothing to change her feelings. When she's left on the side of a mountain to die, an unexpected ally comes forward, and might open her heart.
The stakes couldn't be higher. Saving Sugar isn't a normal rescue operation. It pits Titan against its rival, Jared against his nemesis. Chasing Sugar's heart isn't a simple task, either. She fights him, fights them, always ready to run. When she becomes a pawn in a game of collateral damage, Jared must risk his life to save her - the woman whose bravado and surprising sweetness has given him the one thing he never had. Love.

"Love this series!"
So this story was not what I expected but I enjoyed it! It was good to see Jared and Sugar find love in each other!
Let me preface this review by saying; although this story can stand on its own, it is greatly enhanced by reading in order of the series: Titan.
I really enjoyed watching the "boss man" fall. He really is human and although contrary to previous stories, he has a heart and it is really marshmallow soft with regard to women & children. Okay his team as well.
"Loved the story"
Great story of two bad ass operatives finding each other and working through their bad assery to find love. Sugar, AFT agent, and Jared, head of Titan, are always at odds with each other. But when
terrorism, graft and horror strike at Sugar, Jared doesn't hesitate to bring Titan's resources to bear. The book is a 5 star, and the narrator Jeffrey Kafer is excellent. But the audible has some glitches. At times when I paused the audible upon returning the narration wasn't where it had been, also in quite a few occasions the narration stuttered and stuck. This is a tough, hard hitting story that brings love and understanding to two confident, yet lonely people. A great molding of romance and action.
"Another Violent Asshole Who Hits Women"
I am incredibly disappointed that Ms. Harper featured a violent asshole who liked to HIT women as her hero in the 3rd book of an otherwise entertaining series. Even more insulting to her own gender, another female writer appears to be advancing the myth that smart, strong women actually enjoy being beaten and raped.
In the first 2 books, Titan group owner Jared was portrayed as grumpy but never violent toward women and children. He even hired a female operator. and seemed to admire and respect women. When he acted on his attraction to the sassy Sugar, Jared appeared to appreciate her guts and intelligence as well as her beauty.
Unfortunately, Jared thought he had the right to HIT Sugar, leaving her body bruised and battered. Even more disturbing, Sugar suddenly went from being an assertive, confident professional to a stupid bimbo who LIKED to be beaten! (Perhaps the author should visit a women's shelter and ask survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse how much they LIKED being violated.)
Despite of the blatant lies popularized in recent romantic fiction, being struck in the genitals is not an erotic experience for sane women or men. Besides being physically painful, hitting (spanking) anyone is degrading and dehumanizing plus illegal. There is enough crime, suffering and pain in this world already without promoting sexual abuse as normal, acceptable behavior.
It is especially alarming that Sugar meekly accepted Jared's sexual bullying since she is trying to adopt an 8 year old girl orphan. Will Sugar allow Jared to abuse the child next?
Jared had watched men in his team of rough, ex-military take on missions most would call impossible, fall for strong women. He knew he'd never put himself in that possition of vulnerability. That was at least until, Lily, AKASugar, was left behind in a mission where unknown there were two hostages to bring home instead of the one they'd saved.
From then on it had been a battle in and out of bed, or against a wall, the floor. Who had misinformed them? Had it been an accident? When he learns who it brings back an old enemy into crosshairs.
Wiill he be the next team member to let a woman in--iif he lives,or she does?
Westin's Chase is the 3rd novel in the Titan series by Cristin Harber. Another great book. Seeing Boss Man And Sugar fall in love was an unlikely but great adventure. I love stories where the biggest and baddest people fall in love. They usually fall the hardest and this was no exception. HEA and no cliffhanger.
"Nothing like hearing your hero"
this is the story of my favorite book boyfriend and having it on audible is the ultimate treat!
"Great Read, but..."
I loved the first 2 books, the women can handle their own, but in this one Sugar, yeah she can handle her own and she has a rep, but whinny, childishly annoying, and bratty. I also didn't get her past with the parents, her mom. I would definitely recommend this series. Titan men are the rock. lol
"Another great one"
I'm completely in live with this series. The men and women are tough but have lots of heart.
"Titan series just keeps getting better "
Cristin is 3 for 3 with Westin's Chase. The story has plenty of action and suspense with the right amount of humor sprinkled in. I think it's the characters I enjoy most and love following their stories through the series. On to book 4!
