Story
In Oscar Wars, Michael Schulman chronicles the remarkable, sprawling history of the Academy Awards and the personal dramas—some iconic, others never-before-revealed—that have played out on the stage and off camera. Unlike other books on the subject, each chapter takes a deep dive into a particular year, conflict, or even category that tells a larger story of cultural change, from Louis B. Mayer to Moonlight. Schulman examines how the red carpet runs through contested turf, and the victors aren't always as clear as the names drawn from envelopes.

The definitive account of Germany's malign transformation under Hitler's total rule and the implacable march to war. This magnificent second volume of Richard J. Publisher's Summary
What happens when we discover who we really are? And how do we come to terms with it? Can we even meet each other's eye, after we have seen who we really are? Fearless and original, The Zone of Interest is a violently dark love story set against a backdrop of unadulterated evil, and a vivid journey into the depths and contradictions of the human soul.
Critic Reviews
"An electrifying writer who likes to shock his fans and share his sharply contemporary concerns... Amis is a maddening master you need to read - the best of his generation" ( Mail on Sunday)

Tears and beers
A brilliant imagining of the most ghastly activities that have ever occurred in "civilised" Europe! Drinking and weeping as the action unfolds! Amis seems to have some magical insight into the minds of these very evil people! It is not entertaining - it is totally absorbing taking you into the lives of these terrible people. I had to listen to it three times to understand fully what was going on! My topic recommendation so far!

Doesn’t really work as an audiobook
The changing POVs made it hard to work out which character was speaking. The use of only one narrator was a poor decision. Don’t waste your money, buy the book instead
