A thoughtful, captivating and ultimately uplifting novel from this uniquely talented author. Jasmine loves two things: her sister and her work. And when her work is taken away she has no idea who she is. Matt loves two things: his family and the booze. Without them, he hits rock bottom. One New Year's Eve, two people's paths collide. Both have time on their hands; both are at a crossroads. But as the year unfolds, through moonlit nights and suburban days, an unlikely friendship slowly starts to blossom. Sometimes you have to stop still in order to move on. Original and poignant, The Year I Met You will make you laugh, cry and celebrate life.

This is such a lovely book. The delightfully flawed characters are very endearing and the relationships and storyline are interesting and detailed. This book is a cross between chick lit and novel - easy to absorb but still retains depth and interest. Very enjoyable.
This wasn't what I was expecting, in a good way. A distinctive story that I very much enjoyed.
"Cecelia Ahern does it again"
I've loved all of Cecelia Ahern's books for their quirky, feel-good story lines and her latest offering does not disappoint. Listening to the book as I drove to and from work each day, my 50 minute commute disappeared in an instant as I was drawn into the very satisfying story and great narration.
"A different kind of relationship story"
It was surprising. There were turns to the story I didn't expect and that kept me returning to the book as often as I could! I didn't foresee the way it would go from the title.
I also really enjoyed the narrator's Irish lilt
No I haven't heard Remie read before but would look out for her narration in other books.
Not a love story but a "good friend" story between a man and a woman whose relationship changes and improves over one year.
"An enjoyable listen"
I did really enjoy this audio book, it was great to listen to during commutes, however I did find it a little slow in places and occasionally I found that difficult to follow on short journeys. So although I did really enjoy the story once I got into it, I wouldn't say it has been my favourite to listen to.
I would say highlighting Down Syndrome, it has been the first audio book I have listened to, to promote disability in the way this book did.
I loved how the characters were bought to life. The accents are great in the story and the characters were easy to distinguish.
I thought it was heartwarming.
I would like to thank Audible for sending this in exchange for an honest review.
"Love it "
Love love love that's all I can say. Great story and performance, it's read so beautifully you forget your not actually reading.
"Unfortunately not my sort of book."
I found the main character very negative about everything and the story in my opinion wasn't engaging.
"Charming, joyous read"
Yes I would recommend because the characters are well observed and it's easy to get lost in the story as its so absorbing and well written.
I enjoyed that the family structure was a bit unconventional and the way the book explores disability and promotes equality and diversity (the main characters sister heather has Down's Syndrome and the book looks at heathers relationships as well as jasmines). For this reason I found the book to be more interesting than the conventional love story and found that there were two love stories in the book not just one, I also liked that there are two potential love interests for jasmine and you're not sure till the end who she will choose. Another reason I loved this book. It wasn't too sickly sweet either there were quite intense parts to it as well which gives the book more depth.
Character, her narration was great I enjoyed it and her accent was lovely to listen to.
Funny how a year changes everything
"Depressing and boring"
I did not enjoy this audiobook at all. I thought it was dull and the narrator's voice made it worse. I have liked a lot of Celia's books so was disappointed with this one. I thought the main character was selfish and not a nice person.
"The year I met you"
Really enjoyed this book. Keeps you wanting to hear more. Narration was very good. Look forward to reading another of Cecelia Ahern books.
A very enjoyable book, well read and kept me interested. I would recommend this to friends who enjoy this genre and look forward to other Cecelia Ahern books.
"Not her best book"
It had its charm but I found it very slow. It missed her usual spark. I felt it rushed the end and left unanswered questions.
"A great book"
This was a lovely story to listen to while doing my craft work will look for to another of hers.
