From the heights of love to the depths of despair, from the threat of a mortal enemy to the search for a child he has never met, Sergei Ivanov's odyssey unlocks hidden wisdom at the heart of life. He could never have imagined that from the moment of his birth he was destined to become the peaceful warrior who would change the lives of millions worldwide. The odyssey that unfolds is not about the revolutions of history, but about the revolution in one man's heart. A stirring story emerges as Sergei encounters mentors and masters who reveal secrets about the arts of war and, ultimately, the path to peace.

I have read several Dan Milman's books and loved everyone of them. I expected more of a self help type of book told in a story, but it turned out to be one of the best stories I've read in a long time. Anyone who has read Way of the Peaceful Warrior will love this book and be astounded by how Dan ties it all together in the prologue.
I was totally captivated by this book. I couldn't put it down. It has both emotional highs and lows. Some great insights into life and a great ending.
I read "The Way of the Peaceful Warrior" prior to "The Rise of Socrates". These books radiate deep into my soul as if The Universe & God meant for me to hear their messages exactly at this moment in my life. They have woken up to life on mpre levels than I can begin to describe. The philosophies & inspirations drive every principle that I put into my company, my life's work, & my time I have here on this beautiful world. Thank you!
What an incredible story of strength, courage, wisdom, faith, hope and love! Thank you for writing this Daniel Millman! As he recently published authorI have learned a lot from it!
I have read most of the books in the series. This explanation of the beginning for sacrates was very enlightening!
"Loved this book"
After reading Way of a Warrior from Dan Millman I wanted to see if he wrote about what was in Socrates journal. Well he did and I think I enjoyed this book even more than his other and plan to read some of his other books as well.
"An outstanding book that moves the soul."
It's so true that life has many paths. This book embodies the path that matters most.
"amazing riviting story"
Did not want to stop listening to this amazing odesey. hard to imagine someone lived this life.
"Deeper understanding of the Peaceful Warrior."
It was very hard to take breaks and go back to work/life. I couldn't wait to get back to the story!
Once I become accustomed to the Narrator's speaking style during the reading of this book, I found myself addicted to the story of Sergei. I hard a difficult time pausing to eat or sleep. I became hungry, hungry for more chapters, and hungry to hear what lie ahead. I felt as if I were traveling along with Sergei each and every step.
My only regret was that the story came to an end. How I wish I had a mentor like Sergei.
"Fills in some blanks"
Very enjoyable story, easy to listen to. No great spiritual insights as such, but fills in some of the blanks from the Peaceful Warrior book very nicely.
narration okay .coming from UK I'd prefer an English accent as i think it would help with the contextual nature of this material
