At 25, Princess Adrianne lives a life most people would envy. Beautiful and elegant, she spends her days dabbling in charities and her nights floating from one glamorous gala to the next. But her pampered-rich-girl pose is a ruse, a carefully calculated effort to hide a dangerous truth.
For 10 years Adrianne has lived for revenge. As a child, she could only watch the cruelty hidden behind the facade of her parents' fairy-tale marriage. Now she has the perfect plan to make her famous father pay. She will take possession of the one thing he values above all others - The Sun and the Moon, a fabled necklace beyond price.
Yet just as she is poised to take her vengeance, she meets a man who seems to divine her every secret. Clever, charming, and enigmatic, Philip Chamberlain has his own private reasons for getting close to Princess Adrianne. And only when it's too late will she see the hidden danger…as she finds herself up against two formidable men - one with the knowledge to take her freedom, the other with the power to take her life.

"Unhappy with the reader."
I love Nora Roberts. Her stories are Romantic and interesting. Her women are strong and intelligent. But with sweet Revenge the reader made all the women either lisp or sound like a whiny drag queen. And the usually rugged men sound as if they are all trying to be Errol Flinn.
I have a hard time picking just one. But the last confrontation with the King is my favorite.
Having a reader with a better understanding of the Author.
A better reader
I hope that Sweet Revenge is not a " first book" for someone trying out a new author. It would seriously hurt the reputation of Nora Roberts if it is.
I could not make it past the 3rd chapter due to the narrator.
Found someone else to narrate the books.
"Good book ruined by narration"
Nora yes of course.
Hard to say, I can't get past the bad narration
With all the great books that Nora has written and has had performed, how did this happen?
A different narrator.
A different narrator.
A different narrator.
In less than 10 minutes, I realized that 15 hours of this guy was going to drive me crazy. I'm requesting a refund...
"don't be put off by the bad narrator reviews"
this is one of Nora Roberts best books. the narrator is not bad. he may be a bit breathy in places , but not enough to affect the book.
"The WORST Nora Roberts book"
Nora Roberts is one of my favorite authors. Napoleon Ryan is the worst narrator I've had the misfortune of hearing.
The setting. I'm not fond of stories involving the Middle East these days.
His voice alone is irritating enough.
I stopped listening to it after about an hour or so. So, that said, I found nothing actually that I liked.
I will be more careful the next time I order an audible book, and make sure I listen to the sample before purchasing a book.
"The narrator was perfect"
Yes. It is a story so rich, that a second reading would allow me to absorb more detail.
When Phillip caught her stealing back her necklace. Her emotions were caused her to be careless, showing a great new side of her.
I have not, but I enjoyed he narrator and his great gift with accents.
It is one of the best Nora Roberts novels I have read in years. While I love her fantasy stories, this story was moving, interesting and I couldn't out it down
"All time very best NR ever!!!!"
Absolutely! I just fell in love with these characters!
Too any to name just one!
The accent!! Outstanding narration.
It takes a thief :)
This is a must read/listen!!!
"Enjoyable story that makes me glad I live in America!"
The story was long but enjoyable. I wasn't sure I would like the narration by a man doing female voices, but it was ok. I didn't really understand how the main character could be in America since she was 8 and 20 years later, still sound like she just arrived from the middle east. That part was not believable but the story was good so I got over it.
Love Phillip and Adrianne and the way they interacted throughout the story.
Not a lot of twists and turns but still kept me interested until the end.
"They all end too soon!"
Excellent story. Had me on the edge of my seat most of the time. Took me a while to get used to the reader which almost had me end the book before too far in...glad I listened further. My biggest disappointment was that the book ended too soon. A fantastic tour of the world.
"Predictable... but soooo good!"
when I started listening I struggled a little with the delivery, but Napoleons voice just lures you in... and he is by far the best at ladies voices I have ever heard.
I have only recently found Nora Roberts books, but am so glad I did. I find them compelling listening... If you are looking for a satisfying twisty turny book, then look no further.
"Ruined a great book with awful AWFUL narration"
This is my favourite book, I've read it so many times... but the narration just ruins it for me. I found myself falling asleep with with the smoothness of his voice and the fact he didnt make me gripped with the story.
He gave Princess Adrianne an arabic accent after living in the US 17 years (how odd!) and made Philip sound pompous and condescending. its the first time I've not fallen in love with these two characters. I felt little sympathy for any of the characters due to the way it was narrated.
I normally listen to a book in less then 24 hours... This one was so awfully narrated it took me a week! Napoleon Ryan ruined my favourite book!
"An easy listen"
I liked the fact it was set over a variety of countries, the author's in depth descriptions of each setting enables you to imagine it clearly. Also, the characters were varied, which held my interest.
I liked the inner strength of our herione and the fact that she isn't sickly sweet, she's had to take some knocks in life. Her fathers treatment of her and her mother, shaped her and helped her to see people for who they are and she treats them accordingly.
No, I haven't. His voice is distinctive, very upperclass English and at first I worried it would perhaps be too much but he uses it well to differentiate between the characters. I would listen to another book he'd narrated.
I'd like to do this with all books, unfortunately it's not possible!
This was an easy and enjoyable listen, a good one for walking the dogs.
"My first Nora Roberts story"
I really enjoyed this story. It was well performed and quite gripping. I will have to try some of her others.
"Not my type of book"
This is chick-lit. The story is improbable. The characters are very much larger-than-life and the romantic scenes are ridiculous. When playing the male characters the reader spoke so slowly that I had to set playback at a faster speed for most of the book. I listened to it all, hence three stars. But I fell asleep for long sections and didn't bother rewinding.
"Good story, narration could have been better!"
It's a good time killer, and with a 90 min each way driving commute this killed the time nicely, however the narration was sickly and what drove me mad the most (warning SPOILER alert) is that the main character having been brought up in the USA from the age of 8 hadn't lost ANY of her strong Arabic accent in adulthood. Really???
Definately not based upon this performance
A movie yes. Phoebe - Julia Roberts or Angelena Joli. Adrianne - Emma Watson. Phillip - Benedict Cumberbatch
"Not bad up to a point"
It's not a bad storyline, and I enjoyed the book up to a point, however, the narration can make or break a book, and Phlip Chamberlain's James Bond accent and the cheesy romance scenes nearly drove me insane and completely detracted from what could have easily been a really good heist story.
"Had potential, but lost it with the slushy stuff"
Male lead was nauseating to listen too, I couldn't wait for this book to end. Sorry just not my cuppa
"A Very Modern Fairy Tale"
I absolutely loved the way this story was presented, how it touched on some modern issues and how it all thread so beautifully together. But then, as a Nora Roberts fan, I would expect no less!!!
Princess Adrianne was an extraordinary character with both vulnerability and strength of character and I really enjoyed the way she dealt with all that life brings her. I also have to mention the lovable rogue, Philip Chamberlain.
I haven't as yet listened to any other Napoleon Ryan's performances.
A Princess in Jeopardy
I really enjoyed this read!!!
Anyone who can stand the awful narrators delivery method
don't know didn't listen after a few minutes of awful narrator
yep new narrator
