What if you learned that your fiancé was not who he claimed to be?
Engaged to the charming and seductive Greg Anders, Sara Shaw is happily anticipating her wedding in Edilean, Virginia. The date has been set, the flowers ordered, even her heirloom dress is ready. But just three weeks before the wedding, Greg gets a telephone call during the night and leaves without explanation. Two days later, a man climbs up through a trapdoor in the floor of Sara’s apartment, claiming that he is the brother of her best friend and that he’s moving in.
While Mike Newland is indeed telling the truth about his identity, his reason for being there reaches far deeper. He’s an undercover detective, and his assignment is to use Sara to track down a woman who is one of the most notorious criminals in the United States—and also happens to be the mother of the man Sara plans to marry.
Mike thinks the job will be easy—if he can figure out how to make a “good” girl like Sara trust him, that is. But Mike has no idea what this mission has in store for him. He’s worked hard to keep private his connections to Edilean, which date back to his grandmother’s time there in 1941. But as Mike and Sara get to know each other, he can’t help but share secrets about himself that he’s told no one else. And in return, Sara opens up to Mike about things she could never reveal to Greg. As the pair work together to solve two mysteries, their growing love begins to heal each of them in ways they never could have imagined.

"Deveraux is a master storyteller, and her books fairly shimmer with excitement and adventure, making her one of the most popular women’s fiction writers today. Scarlet Nights is no exception. With strong characters, down-home charm, and an intriguing story, fans will enjoy catching up with the folks from Edilean." (Times Record News)

The Story, light quick read/listen. Solved mystery almost immediately.
The varied characters.
When the male lead, first met the main female character.
When the two main characters finally discovered each other.
Moved, no, but surprised me. . the farm landscape.
Much of what I might say, would fall under the category of
I expected an actual mystery, not a Harlequin ROMANCE. The premise was entirely preposterous.
Nothing from this author.
Character voices lacking and the fake Southern accents on SOME but not all the characters from VA.
It started out promising and then got ridiculous.
"didn't want to put down"
Haven't seen the print version
This is a first time to listen to Julia Gibson
yes. It was a fun book
"Great Story, lousy narrater"
Exciting, Suspenseful, Heart Warming
It was believable and exciting.
All the voices sounded the same a little whiney and weak. Did not show all the strong personalities of Miss Edi, Joc, Luke and especially Tess. I would never again purchase an audible book that was narrated by Julia Gibson.
Jude, Please choose Barbara McCulloh or Davina Porter for all your books,
one of my favorite books. the story of love and bad guys versus good guys. two of my favorite subjects.
"In love with this town once again...."
I simply enjoy the way each townspeople have their own unique story as we all do !
Action, Adventure, Intrigue plus weaving the past with the present. What more could you want. The only problem was the narrator's attempt at imitating male voices, she did a good job except for that.
This was an ok story. Kind of predictable. If you love romances, I guess this is adequate. I stayed interested enough to finish it.
"I love most of Jude's novels."
Audio books are a great choice for travel and relaxation. I love to read but this is a great option when that is not possible.
"Want more and a list of books in this series."
Was inthraled with the storyline and history of each character and how they were connected to each other.
