Story
Well hello to you dear audiobook browser. Now I have your attention it would be rude if I didn't tell you a little about my literary feast. So, here is the thing: is it just me or does anyone else find that adulthood offers no refuge from the unexpected horrors, peculiar lack of physical coordination and sometimes unexplained nudity, that accompanied childhood and adolescence? I am proud to say I have a wealth of awkward experiences - from school days to life as an office temp - and here I offer my 18-year-old self (and I hope you, too, dear listener) some much needed caution and guidance on how to navigate life's rocky path.

Story
'Between the Stops is a sort of a memoir, my sort. It's about a bus trip really, because it's my view from the Number 12 bus (mostly top deck, the seat at the front on the right), a double-decker that plies its way from Dulwich, in South East London, where I was living, to where I sometimes work - at the BBC, in the heart of the capital. It's not a sensible way to write a memoir at all, probably, but it's the way things pop into your head as you travel, so it's my way'.

Loved listening to this audio book… wish I knew if Cat had been charged. And how did Sylvia fall off the balcony? Thanks for the wonderful reading.

so depressing!
This was well written and performed, but not what I expected at all. The story was very depressing and although there were moments of comedy even they were dark.
If you like drama and stories about death then this could be for you, but I like to feel good after listening to a book not like I need to make an appointment to get anti depressants.

The repercussions of a single choice
The characters ate utterly believable as the hurts, pains and truths of the repercussions and impact a single decision made by Silvia are peeled away. The story unfolds as less of a narration and more of a revelation of the true heart of each character.

Ok
This took me a while to get into, I'm glad I went with the audio version as I think it made it more entertaining than it would have been had I been reading it, with the variety of accents. I like Dawn French and the comedy shows she has written and stared in. This however is completely different to them, on many levels, with Dawn I don't know if it's because of her comedy, that I maybe expect fun, light, and make you laugh till you cry comedy, that maybe I didn't connect with Oh Dear Silvia the way I was hoping I would. Having said that it feels a bit disjointed, and I think had I been reading it I would have got lost half way through, this is in no way a did at Dawn, I really wanted to like this more than I did. Maybe I need to give it another listen to at another time, but for now my feelings towards this are mixed let's say.
