From the author of the number-one best-selling romance Jake Undone comes a friends-to-lovers story of longing, passion, betrayal, and redemption...with a twist that will rip out your heart.
Skylar was my best friend, but I secretly pined for her. One thing after another kept us apart, and I've spent the last decade in fear of losing her forever. First it was the cancer, but she survived only to face the unthinkable at my hands. Because of me, she left town. For years I thought I'd never see her again. But now she's back - and living with him. I don't deserve her after everything I've put her through, but I can't live without her. This is my last chance because she's about to make the biggest mistake of her life. I can see it in her eyes: She doesn't love him. She still loves me - which is why I have to stop her before it's too late.

I love a story that with everything else can make you laugh. Eg Mrs. Balls worthy suit cake to talking about where babies come from. Plenty of laughs and tears great books x 4
This was my first audible experience. The story was rather gripping and a fair bit more sexual than I expected. I loved the female narration and eventually I gelled with the male narration also.
"omg this book is awesome. it made me cry and laugh"
the story was so well written and addicting. I loved this book. Mitchell and Skylar.
"Some people are destined to be together."
Absolutely. First of all the story is AMAZING. Secondly, the narrators were very good.
Mitch - He didn't seem to be able to catch a break. He ended up taking blame for things that weren't entirely his fault. All he wanted was the girl he had loved since he was 11 years old.
I loved the scene at the beach house when Skylar finally makes her decision.
I did find myself teary at some points in this story. I was also frustrated at the obstacles that this poor couple continued to have to face. But overall, it just put me in my happy place.
Love Penelope Ward's stories. This series has been so good.
"YA STORY.... HEARTBREAKING, BEAUTIFUL & MOVING"
Mitch and Skylar met when they were young and straight away they became inseparable, they had similar family issues and their whole world was each other. And the deep friendship soon turned into love but fate had so many heartbreaking challenges for them that it seemed that they would never truly find the happiness they both craved that could only happen by being together.
This wasn't an easygoing read as it dealt with cancer, the after-effects of it and a truly evil bitch who wanted what wasn't hers and her actions caused devastation and heartache that would span years. Mitch and Skylar moved on apart but never moved forward and a chance meeting gave Mitch another opportunity to change their fate. There were some happy times, some funny times, lots of romantic and touching times but above all this was a sad listen because no matter how hard Mitch and Skylar loved each other it just never seemed enough and because of this years were wasted.
Dual POV with a small Chapter from 'the bitch', great narration and each narrator could easily do the other sexes voice, very very romantic plot that did have some nice sex scenes at the end and the characters were both so likeable.
Worth a credit? If you like YA romances then Yes, this was well written and worth a credit but it was maybe a bit too YA for me however I enjoyed it. Remember it's not a sunshine and roses listen but more one of tender hope, love, turmoil, tears, regrets, love, heartache, pain and then again love. But when fate gave them a second chance it was a beautiful romantic tear-filled reunion and repair of two broken souls.
I really liked this audiobook, it was well narrated and full of angst with a HEA. I sometimes wished the heroine would 'grow a backbone' and quit being so timid about what she really wants. But in the end she does exactly that, so all is resolved.
"My kind of story"
Within my favorite 10 top ever.
There are too many but I think their first kiss was amazing...
The two protagonists
Their many departures from one another for the wrong reasons were heartbreaking...
I'd already read the ebook first and I loved it enterily, but the audible version added so much more to the beauty of this story.
"Fantastic Book! I loved the characters and story!"
The epic love between these two characters!
The fact that their feelings for one another never changed, regardless of what happened.
Mitch! I loved him so much and Casey Jones did a great job of bringing him to life!
Yes! I didn't want to stop listening, I had to know what would happen next!
Loved it! Penelope Ward is a great writer, and I really enjoyed Casey Jones and Piper Goodeve as narrators.
"horrible, corny, sappy, predictable, dissapointmen"
truly THE worst serires I have ever listened to...not the narrators, but the story. oainful to finish
"The Love of Life Long Friends - Skylar and Mitch"
This story was very slow and mostly about a Young Adult Love of best friends, Skylar and Mitch. The background story took too long to get to the current day life of these two. This story wasn't for me, but if you are a fan of Young Adult Fiction, you might appreciate this book in the Gemini Series.
Completely in love with this story. It's the perfect summer read and so beautifully written.
"I really liked a lot"
Was a very good audiobook. Starts out as teenage love so some may not like YA but I ended up really liking it a lot and I am pretty picky. Both narrators are good when playing their gender. I will say I did not care for how the male narrator sounded when he was trying to narrate the female voice. It sounds nasally and somewhat squeaky. You will see. It doesn't even sound like a young girl - more like 60 lol - and turned me off at certain times. However, it did not keep me from liking the book. He sounded fine when he narrated the male part. But this is why I decided to give the performance 4 stars.
