What if you could ask God anything? What would you ask? And how would he answer?
Chelsea Chambers is on her own. After a public split from her NFL superstar husband, Chelsea takes a bold step out of the limelight and behind the counter of the Higher Grounds Café, an old-fashioned coffee shop in dire need of reinvention. But when her courage, expert planning, and out-of-this-world cupcakes fail to pay the bills, this newly single mom finds herself desperate for help. Better yet, a miracle. Then a curious stranger lands at Chelsea's door, and with him an even more curious string of events. Soon customers are flocking to the Higher Grounds Café and not just for the cupcakes and cappuccino. They've come for the internet connection to the divine. Now the café has become the go-to place for people in search of answers to life's biggest questions.
When a catastrophe strikes, and her ex comes calling, Chelsea begins to wonder if the whole universe is conspiring against her quest to make it on her own. After a shocking discovery opens her eyes to the unseen world around her, Chelsea finds the courage to ask, and heaven answers in a most unexpected way.

"This was OK"
I haven't listened to or read Max Lucado before. I found the book somewhat less spiritual than I was expecting, but it is a nice story. Very clean, gives you a feel good ending. It certainly is a safe novel for those trying to avoid bad language and graphic sex scenes. There was enough humor to keep you going and it made me really want to open a quaint coffee and baked goods shop.
I really liked the ending as far as the imagery goes. Spoiler alert!
What I liked most was when the main character was shown the worst parts of her life and the fact the God's Presence was with her though she wasn't
aware of it; and then the quote stating something like as believers "Abandonment is a myth and loneliness is a choice." Those are my takeaways from the book.
I typically like a little more depth in my books, but this was OK.
Probably not, unless i was specifically told of a great one but this story didnt particularly sell me on the book.
It was expected, no wow factor!
The performance was good. The voice was soothing and the pace was fitting.
No, the story doesn't really have much to expand on thus a follow up book would be strange and un-needed.
An ok listen, but certainly no page turner. 100% predictable. Unfortunately I didn't find the religious message inspiring either.
"simple and predictable bit sweet"
I didn't realize when I bought this book that it was Christian fiction. that may be off putting to some people. the story was pretty simple with a predictable storyline, but sometimes a simple sweet story is nice. I enjoyed it but wouldn't recommend it for any awards.
"Trusting in your faith"
Great story on love and forgiveness. Even when you feel all alone God is always with you.
Memorable story that reminds us all that we are never alone. I loved how Manny showed her this at the end.
Max , Candace n Eric have truly weaved an exceptional mind, heart and soul story. I had to listened to this three times and each time walked away with a better understanding of who I am to God. I encourage everyone to read or better yet listen to this boook. It will open your eyes and heart. Change your walk and mature you. I pray this trio will write n record more. We really need them. Thankks.
I loved this book!! I was captivated by the story! This was my first Christian novel, I was looking for a good story to get lost in and was very pleased! To my surprise I was able to have deeper revelations of God through this simple and cute story! I would recommend this for anyone looking for a great novel to get lost in! This was a beautiful story on forgiveness and I believe could be helpful to those in need of forgiving. Happy listening!
"One word: hope"
The most beautiful story of hope, love, human struggles with hate and helplessness, and heaven's willingness to answer our unending questions.
Wondering how you will ever make it on your own? Don't bother, you will never have to; you'll never alone
I really enjoyed listening to this boo. I dudn't want the book to end and the narrator made the story come alive. Recommend.
