It should be called Her Grandmothers Secret, It is sad that in the late 1800's and beginning of 1900's women's lives were dictated by the men of the family, can we judge the woman who had an illegitimate child when it was the fault of her father for putting her in the predicament for his own gain? then for the child Lettie to be raised by her grandmother who feels just as guilty but being a woman also had no say in the matter. This child grows up around intrigue and deceit yet is unaware of it. When Lettie's grandmothers dies Lettie discovers she is not the orphan she has grown up believing, and so with her guardian a minister reveals to her the truth about he birth, Lettie goes on a journey that brings her truth and all she has ever dreamed of wanting. A great story.
Lovely book the author painted a great picture of the people and places. Narrated exceedingly well. I Would highly recommend.
