Where does a Demon go when she gets deported from Hell? Kentucky. Eden, Kentucky, to be more specific - where nothing is exactly as it seems.
My name is Dixie. I'm a Demon - a lousy Demon. I'm a 21-year-old virgin, and I have a battery-operated boyfriend. My magic is iffy at best and downright dangerous at worst. Leaving Hell to represent my race is not high on my list of things to do. Hell was exact. Hell was simple. All I want to do is get to home base with the hotter-than-Hades Demon of my dreams and work on my dark side so Satan, my dad, will get off my ass. Instead I end up in Kentucky looking for the Balance of Chaos, avoiding pole dancing classes with Mother Nature, and finding out my invisible friend is a silver-skinned destructive weather pattern. And if that isn't craptastic enough, the damn Sword of Death is missing again, and whoever has it wants the King of the Underworld dead. Seriously.
With new powers emerging daily, keeping my Demon side, horniness, and general disgust under wraps doesn't make it any easier to fit in with the humans. Thankfully my priorities are in line: get laid...save world...try not to blow up kitchen appliances...and get laid again. I am ready to rumble. All I want to do is go back to Hell, but with the balance of good and evil in my hands, I'm stuck in the Garden of Eden. Oh well, what the Hell. Someone has to save the world before there's no world left to save. Might as well be me.

"Hell Yeah, it was Good!"
I think Robyn Peterman is a very talented author whose stories are creative, and laugh out loud funny, and I've really enjoyed "The Hot Damned" series. However, there are some differences from the first two stories in the series, which isn't necessarily bad.... just different.
This is Dixie's story, and while it has some of the characters from the first two books, "Hell on Heels" could actually be a stand alone story. Dixie is younger, 21 years old, so the story is more of a YA PNR. There are some "steamy scenes" and two smoking hot angel brothers, the angel of light, and angel of death, but with school and the Angel, Demon dance, it does have a YA feel. The biggest difference is the change of narrators. This story is told from Dixie's POV, so it makes sense for her to have her own voice and Amanda Ronconi is a very good narrator.
While my review is based on this story being more of a YA PNR, the story was fun to listen to, and full of wacky characters, who were snarky, sassy, and sexy. There's also plenty of drama, suspense, and some steamy sex scenes.
I look forward to the next book in the series "Fashionably Dead in Diapers" and hope there will be an audiobook for Heathcliff's story "Fashionably Hotter Than Hell." It would be awesome if his story could be narrated by male.... maybe Phil Gigante, Ryan West or some one with a really sexy voice.
Great story for PNR fans, and well worth the time spent listening to the story.
"Amazing Narration by Amanda Ronconi"
all the books in this series should be read by Amanda Ronconi she brings the characters to life. the story is great . loved the little twists and how the characters all interacted with one another.
So nice to see Dixie get her man, her powers, and a lot of information. She had so many questions and now has had many I them answered. Who know that they guy she had been watching for a year would have the secret that he had and that he would become so attached. On top of the all the are the awesome snarky comments throughout that I love. I enjoy the hell out of Robyn Peterman's stories and all that is wrapped up in them. They are a joy to spend time reading or listening to.
The narration was good. It is hard to be that many different voices but it was a fine job. I enjoyed listening and was glad that I could close my eyes and visualize the people. Can't wait for the next one.
"Hell on Earth"
The fact that even though she was afraid she proved herself and I think she discovered some new things about herself along the way.
Dixie because she's super cute and funny and dangerous as hell and brave because she different.
I'm a big Amanda fan and would listen to her read the news lol She did an amazing job with all the various characters and made it easy to determine which character was speaking.
When she was trying to get her father to not send her to Kentucky.
Holy Hotness! I love the wit and humor in this book, Dixie Satans youngest daughter has always been the good girl in Hell, now finds herself send to Eden, KY and she must learn to get her evil on, all while protected herself from rogue demons and angels who either want to kiss her or kill her. Dixie is banned from contact with Hell for one month after arriving on Earth, determined to figure out the insane riddles and restore the balance of good and evil she finds herself confused, frustrated and lost. Her entourage which consists of her protecters from Hell and a werewolf and some other fun characters join her as she searches for answers and the power to save the world for complete unbalance. Loveable characters, witty lines, insanely fun story and a plot that will keep you guessing all make this one HELL on an awesome audiobook!
I probably will, since I started the series with this book, number three in the series. I bought the audiobook because I like Amanda Ronconi, and listened to books one and two after book three. The characters are falling down funny and I will probably listen to the whole series again when I need a laugh!
Mother Nature because she's hilarious despite her crazy temper.
When I see Amanda Ronconi is the narrator, I know I will enjoy the performance. She's magnificent on the Half Moon Hollow series by Molly Harper.
I was laughing out loud as I drove down the highway.
If you like paranormal stories, you will enjoy this book and this series.
"always love narrator"
got this book because of the narrator but like the series so maybe I'll get the rest of the books in the series it was interesting and fun
Another great story by Robyn Peterman! I am glad Dixie got her own book. The only downside is that Dixie had a southern accent in the other books and I missed that in this one.
"I like every story Amanda Ronconi narrates."
I read the Hot Damned Series and loved it, but once I saw Amanda Ronconi narrated it, I had to get it. She has a way adding a whole new element to a story. I both recommend the Hot Damned Series and anything she narrates.
I did not want to drop listening, the story is funny, with the love of a very strange family keeping it all together. I hope the series will continue.
"Best combo of story and vocal actor"
I have read this book before but as I was recently laid up after surgery I wanted something light to cheer me up. Robyn Peterman instantly came to mind but as my focus wasn't the best I thought the audio version might be better. I was delighted to find that of my favorite narrators Amanda Ronconi was doing Dixie's story!
I enjoyed every moment. Robyn writes with an exuberance that can't be described. Her pace is frenetic and her plots are laugh out loud funny. Dixie, Satan's daughter, is being sent to Earth to keep the world in one piece but no one is telling her how to do it. So they send a madcap bunch of misfits with her and craziness ensues. Despite the chaos and multitude of characters there is always a great deal of heart in her stories. There is no voice quite like Robyn Peterman's and that is good thing. She stands out and brings the fun! 5 stars!
This is the best book in the entire series. I am not sure if you just get numb to the rubbish that comes from the characters mouths or your brain gets overloaded & shuts down. Same old recycled monologue. Same over dramatic dialog but a pretty good story. I truly want to do physical harm to the editor. This author has a really good imagination: the stories are interesting & fun but totally spoiled by lazy writing, recycled dialog (I could scream with the sexual references of 'riding him till he goes blind') & poor constructed conversations. This should have been ironed out in the first book. This series could have been great but due to the poor judgement & management of this author : they are condemned to being okay.
