Publisher's Summary

Talia

I have always been a bird. Caged by one prison or another when the only thing I ever wanted was to fly away. Sold. Beaten. Starved. Drugged. Nothing scares me anymore. Until him. He makes the numbness go away. He is hazardous to me. It has nothing to do with his mafia lifestyle, and everything to do with what he offers. A gilded prison. A retreat from everything that I once knew. The reality I have no desire to return to. He thinks he's caged me, but soon I'm going to fly.

Alexei

I live by a code. The Vory code. In this mafiya world, there are traditions. Expectations. She does not care for these things. She does not care about anything. She thinks she has me fooled with her haunted eyes. What she can't know is that I see her better than most. She wants to fly. But I'm going to clip her wings. And make her my wife.

    "What an awesome audiobook!"

    A. Zavarelli just keeps the good stuff coming with this third episode of the Boston Underworld series. The terrible darkness that has spun Talia and Alexei's lives so far off course is portrayed delicately but powerfully, making their ascension into the light truly memorable. As a book it is terrific. But with Tracy Marks' narration - flawlessly moving between male and female timbres, and Russian / Boston American and Irish accents - the audio book is quite sublime.
    Awe-inspiring and awe-some!

"Best One of the Series....so far."

This book (and series) is definitely not for the faint of heart. This story is deep, dark and emotional. It doesn't shy away from mafia issues like human trafficking, drugs, betrayal, and murder. It is very descriptive and detailed with characters that are beyond flawed but not beyond redemption. It's a must listen for those who love suspenseful love stories.

Tracy Marks narrates these books wonderfully. Her accents and clear voice make listening a pleasure.

Note: This book has very descriptive sex scenes, violence, and strong language. This is definitely an Adults Only listen.

This book is worth a credit and I would like to thank the author, narrator, or publisher for providing me this audiobook at no cost in exchange for my unbiased review.

    "Dark Emotional Story"

What an emotional roller coaster. I still haven't gotten off the rush of the book yet. I wanted to give it 5 stars, but after all the couple went through the end seemed to just be rushed. It was total turmoil and then BAM it was done. It kinda rubbed me the wrong way.

This is a very graphic dark story. Bad things happen and some of it just seems unbearable at times and down right depressing, but you read on to see what would happen. I was up all night reading even when I knew I had to get up for work. I could not put it down, I had to see what was going to happen.

Talia.... sigh.... why does so much terrible things have to happen to one person. I felt so bad for her and at times I just wanted her put out of her misery wondering what she really had to live for. Alexei at times was so cruel to her I couldn't comprehend why he was so cruel. He could never really give her want she needed and that was love unconditional love. The author was so talented that when he told her he could never love her, I felt that emotion from her and I just wanted to throw up because of the disappointment and anguish expressed. I know Alexei's issues are the cause of it, but it just was down right cruel. At times you just wanted them to not be together, because they were both their own worst enemies. I hate that she always got betrayed no matter what happened. How sad that you don't trust because you always know it will end.

Alexei.... argh..... sometimes I just wanted to reach through my iPad and kill him. He was just as messed up, but i don't think as damaged as Talia. He was more messed up mentally while Talia was both messed up mentally and physically. He irritated me that he played with her in his own way too and at times was worse then the captors that raped and beat her. He would show how much he cared and lure her in then BAM crush her within a second later. Then he would say he knew he would crush her and he was no good for her. I can't believe what he does at the end to think that with everything Talia did and said he did what he did. It was almost unforgivable and in a way I am glad she did what she did to make him hurt. He deserved it and more.

Tracy Marks was good with the delivery of the story

    "LOVED IT!!"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This story was absolutely beautiful!! Two tarnished souls finding each other and providing the one thing that they have lacked for so many years!! Alexi and Talia together was an amazing twist!

Have you listened to any of Tracy Marks’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have in book 1 and 2. She is phenomenal!! One suggestion, a little more excitement in the sex scenes.

"Well Worth your time & Credit !!"
    Any additional comments?

Another great installment to the series. Very entertaining, well written, engaging and enjoyable. This is one of those series you just can't get enough of. The best part is there are at least 2 more books in the series. Technically you could read the book as a stand alone, but I wouldn't recommend it. It is absolutely worth your time to start at the beginning of the series. A. Zavarelli knows how to write one heck of good story.

Warning - The synopsis doesn't flat out say it, but the story is about Talia who is betrayed by her "boyfriend", and sold into sexual slavery. This story covers some of horrors and abuse she endures. If you are sensitive to this type of issue and the repercussions that come with it you may want to avoid this installment of the series.

Talia the reason behind the beginning of the series. A dark, twisted, emotional and heartbreaking story.

Tracy Marks does a fantastic job once again with the narration. Nice voice easy to listen to for hours. Great character voices. Clearly spoken with a nice even pace. She is able to convey all of the characters emotions. She brings the characters and the story to life. Definitely one of the best narrators out there.

I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator or publisher.

    "Dark & twisted"

I loved Crow & Reaper in the Boston Underworld series, so I knew I was going to really enjoy Ghost as well. I surely was not disappointed. Talia's story is so dark & screwed up. The author is amazing at pulling you into the story & sharing every detail with you. A must read for sure! After you've read the other two as well of course. I really need to read more from this author. The narration is on point, just as it was in the other books in the series. Tracy Mark always knocks it out of the park.  If you are an audio listener I definitely recommend this series on audio as well. (:

    "Wow! The Best One Yet!"

The beginning is chilling and disturbing but if you stick with it you will be rewarded with an amazing Rollercoaster ride!

This author is amazing and her writing really sucks you in! I have enjoyed every book in this series but this one is my favorite!

There aren't enough stars to rate the narrator! She is awesome! Tracy brings the story to life and keeps you engaged and wanting more!

Talia is such a broken character and everything she went through is heartbreaking! I definitely misjudged her in the previous books.

Alexei is also broken from his past but he has accomplished a lot since his dad gave him and his mom the boot.

This is one of the best books I have listened to! It was impossible to put it down!

What made the experience of listening to Ghost the most enjoyable?

Honestly, Tracy Marks is the best !! She did such phenomenal job with the narrations, especially hearing her do Alexi in Russian.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Definitely Alexi . He really came to life

    Which scene was your favorite?

Too many !! but i would have to say the scene where Talia finally opens up and nurtures him

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I LOVED every second of it. their were parts were i would laugh or just feel sentimental towards the characters. But overall the audio really did bring this book to life and made you feel like you were experiencing it in real life.

    "Great story and narration!"

This series has been an unexpected surprise. A. Zavarelli was a new to me author before I started devouring the books in this series. I'm very impressed by her writing! Book 3 features the developing relationship between Talia and Russian mobster, Alexei. Their story is completely unconventional, but these two flawed characters are absolutely perfect for each other.
I have to state upfront that this book is not for everyone. This is definitely a dark romance and deals with sensitive subject matter. The first few chapters feature very descriptive rape and abuse scenes. If that's a trigger for you, avoid this book. The theme throughout, centers around Talia's experiences after being sold as a sex slave. Anyone sensitive to that subject matter will struggle with this book. I actually struggled for a while, but knew it would be worth it in the end. And it was SO worth it! I love stories of redemption and over-coming unbelievable hardships. Both of these characters have that in spades. The story is both hard-breaking and beautiful.

Audiobook review: In a word - Awesome! Tracy Marks does a fabulous job making each character sound different. The accents are definitely a nice touch! She nailed it.
I rate it: 4 Solid Stars

    "Dark, Raw and Riveting!"

What a great story! This is my first A. Zavarelli and "Wow!" I did not know what I was missing. This was the third book in the series, but was well written and gave enough details, it could easily be listened as a stand alone. I did not feel lost.

Ghost is a dark story. Talia was sold as a sex slave, by her "boyfriend", and Alexei was sent in to find Talia. He rescues her, and keeps her safe by marrying her. During her captivity Talia suffered a lot, and had a tough road to recovery. Alexei slowly helps Talia recover, and they start to develop true feelings for each other. However, Alexei had another reason for marrying her, and did not want others to know. When his secrete is revealed, he suspects Talia is the person who betrayed him, and he treats her badly.

Tracy Marks narration was awesome. She did a great job on all the accents.

This story was good, and well worth a credit.

"Another great book in a great series."

This is the third book in the Boston Underworld series and it’s just as amazing as the previous books. We were introduced to Alexei in the other two books and I was definitely curious about him and about what happened to Talia.

Both Talia and Alexei are quite damaged having endured horrors, first at the hands of their mothers and then later, in Talia’s case, at the hands of men that saw her as nothing but property. Despite their different lives, at the end of the day, they are both looking for love and acceptance. Their journey was not an easy one but it made for a great read/listen.

I have listened to all three books on audio and I have loved them all. Once again Tracy Marks did an outstanding job narrating. She’s amazing with the male voice and with the accents (both the Irish and the Russian).
