"I am a puzzle and you are my piece."
Gena Showalter always gives a story full of action, adventure, romance, sex, friendship and humor. I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't without its flaws. I wasn't always a fan of Thane's. Not that I didn't like him, I just didn't like all the stuff he did even after Elin came into the picture. Like Pain's book from LOU series, Thane's sex life was disturbing. I understand why he was like that, I just don't have to like it. Luckily when he gets together with Elin it wasn't a BDSM session. My other problem with this book is I sometimes couldn't tell when Elin was speaking or having an inner dialog in her head and at times I was amazed she would say certain stuff, then I realized she was only thinking it. This of course could have been fixed it the narrator had altered her voice for her inner self. I have always enjoyed Max Bellmore, he has a sexy voice.
great love story makes you want yourself a hot angel to fall in love with
"Wow! Unexpectedly cute✨ ~"
The book was richly detailed and placed you in all the action. It was like violence, revenge mixed with cuteness love and hilarious moments. I saw some of the reviews before purchasing; and think people expected erotica book. Wrong. It's a great book. 👍🏼 One I would recommend to anyone who likes action and humor. At least, from my point of view. 💖✨
"EXCITING, NON STOP ACTION & A GREAT ROMANCE"
This is the 3rd book in the Angels Of The Dark series about charismatic Winged Warriors who travel between the Natural and Spirit Worlds fighting Demons, making enemies and falling in love and technically it follows on from GS's brilliant LOU series but each book could be stand alone listen.
Thane is one of the Winged Warriors and he has been captured and held as a sex slave by an evil Phoenix woman until he is rescued by a quiet, gentle, abused human slave called Elin Vale but she has a terrible secret that could destroy their budding relationship. He has to battle his enemies, his mental Demons from the past and conquer his hatred of all Phoenix or lose the one he loves.
Thane is a great Hero, he's kind, loyal and thoughtful to the ones he loves, sexy and strong but he is also full of revenge, anger and is very unpredictable. He, and his two friends, were enslaved and brutally tortured in Hell but they survived and have a special bond which brings brotherhood and humor to the listen. And he also has some beautiful emotional words for Elin.
Worth a credit? When it comes to PNR Gena Showalter is a master craftsman at detailed world and complex character building and writes exciting plots filled with supernaturals and there's a good balance between the action, suspense and adventure and the undercurrent of passion by a nicely developed romance. There's humor, sex, edge of your seat tension and great supernatural secondary characters including a couple of Angels with sub plots of their own. Great narration as ever by Max Bellmore. So, if you're a PNR lover like me, it all adds up to a very enjoyable and creditworthy listen.
I really enjoyed this story! It had a little different tone then previous two but still enjoyable!
"Very good addition to the series :)"
This was a very good addition to the series. I liked both Thane and Elin and I like that they were able to find happiness together.
Elin is a half human/half Phoenix that grew up human. Her mother left the Phoenix after she fell in love with Elin's father and they soon gave birth to Elin. Elin married her college sweetheart, Bae, at the age of 21 and they'd barely been married 3 months when the Phoenix came, killed Elin's father and Bae and then took her and her mother captive. Elin's mother ended up dying in captivity, leaving Elin alone as a slave in a camp of Phoenix that treat her worse than a dog.
Thane is a Sent one (a heavenly being that's similar to an Angel) and is part of a heavenly army that fights demons. A while back, Thane, Bjorn & Xerxes (2 other Sent Ones) were taken captive by demons. They were all put through horrible things and once they escaped, the trio became BFFs. They all are currently in the same heavenly army and also co-own a bar/brothel in the clouds.
Thane has had problems ever since his captivity that cause him to need sex as an outlet but it has to be kinky, with pain for both him and the woman involved. Because he is ashamed of what he needs, Thane rarely sleeps with the same woman twice. In a previous book, Thane fooled around with a Phoenix named Kendra and she got way too attached and wanted more. Thane cut things off with her but she came back, managed to enslave him and then took him to her camp to be her mindless sex slave. Elin is captive in the same camp and she helps Thane escape in hopes that he'll help her escape with him. He does and offers her a job working as a barmaid in his bar. Elin accepts the job because she needs the money but Thane has a violent opposition to Phoenix after his captivity so she decides to keep her half Phoneix blood a secret.
Once Thane is free and home, his old habits don't really draw him the way they did. He does try going back to his previous use of women but the one woman he beds doesn't satisfy him. Thane keeps thinking of Elin and wanting her but doesn't think he can be with her. Elin is attracted to Thane but scared off by some of the stories she hears about his violent nature and such. She also fears him finding out about her being half Pheonix (even if that side of her is weak and doesn't show) so she just wants to do her job and make some money for a nest egg (since she was left homeless and penniless after her captivity). Regardless of both of their initial reservations, they both are drawn to each other and end up together but there's a lot of back and forths before they're truly together. During this time, there are other issues to deal with, mainly a demon prince that Thane is trying to capture (or kill) and the Phoenix. Thankfully, Thane and Elin are able to work past their issues and end the story together and starting a HEA.
This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Elin but not completely...I liked her at certain points but when it came to Thane she was really wishy washy. It seemed like every time Elin and Thane were getting to the point of coming together, Elin would say or do something to impede their progress. It wasn't too bad overall but I did find it rather annoying at times. Thane was a bit of a jerk at first but you could soon see how damaged he was inside and his attitude is more of a defense than him trying to be mean (at least for Elin and certain others). Overall, I was very pleased with the story and would recommend it. :D
Max Bellmore did amazing with this book! Another great read err.. Listen by Gena! I hope it's not the last of the series.
"A story about trust"
I liked the story, but it seem to go on longer than needed. The battles between good and evil was pretty intense and fun to listen to. The story reminded me a little of Kresley Cole's Immortal series. A little humor among the chaos.
"Showalter mixes up myths"
Mixing up Myths
I don't want to give away spoilers but when Elin, saves the day.
Max Bellmore is great, and he does all the voices of every character very well along with emotions
Showalther really must do lots of research of myths and legends. She always seems to come up with action packed stories with strange and riveting story lines.
"max Bellmore is awesome"
great narration! Bellmore brings the characters to life! Story seemed a little rushed. Seems like sex was used as a filler.
