The new Guardians Trilogy novel from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Stars of Fortune.
To celebrate the rise of their new queen, three goddesses of the moon created three stars, one of fire, one of ice, one of water. But then they fell from the sky, putting the fate of all worlds in danger. And now three women and three men join forces to pick up the pieces....
Mermaid Annika is from the sea, and it is there she must return after her quest to find the stars. New to this world, her purity and beauty are nothing less than breathtaking, along with her graceful athleticism, as her five new friends discovered when they retrieved the fire star.
Now, through space and time, traveler Sawyer King has brought the guardians to the island of Capri, where the water star is hidden. And as he watches Annika in her element, he finds himself drawn to her joyful spirit. But Sawyer knows that if he allows her into his heart, no compass could ever guide him back to solid ground....
And in the darkness, their enemy broods. She lost one star to the guardians, but there is still time for blood to be spilled - the mermaid's in the water and the traveler's on the land. For she has forged a dangerous new weapon. Something deadly and unpredictable. Something human.

Love books and now I can listen to my favourites making them live all over again
Riveting - funny - action packed.
Annika's and Sawyers escape
Bran - she made him seem like a calm gentle but wise man with a perfect Irish accent
The realisation of the characters that it is only as a team that they will have the strength to complete the journey.
Can't wait for the next book.
"This book gave me a bad feeling..."
It's like listening to a five-year-old talk about sex.
Then I had to skip through the parts where the one with the five-year-old mentality had sex.
I'm sorry, it is just my opinion, but the mermaid just comes across that way. I'm sure I am not the only one who thinks this.
If that wasn't part of the book I would've given it four stars. I'm really hoping that the third book can save this trilogy.
The story line is kind of fun in a Buffy meets The Librarians sort of way, but yeah, I was put off.
"outstanding adventure "
I loved it! The hunt continues with battles, loyalty, love and drama.. The character interactions are both touching and humorous. Nora Roberts wreaves an outstanding adventure .
Another winner for Nora Roberts! Even though the trilogy series get predictable after a while I enjoy that about them. Just a couple of things that drove me crazy throughout the book. Referring to the gun magazines as clips! That's not what they are! The magazine holds the bullets. And every time the characters said damn skippy! Not to sound too Hermione here but it's Damne SKIPPY, not DAMN skippy.
I'm very much looking forward to the third in the trilogy! Write like the wind and get that going!
Nora Roberts is out doing herself on this trilogy! I have waited and waited for second book Bay of Sighs to come out and I am thrilled! Far more intrigue and suspense than most of her trilogy's. Yes, you do know who is going to hook up next and that is normal but the story is so far one of her best!
Saskia Maarleveld is really challenged in second book with all of the new characters introduced! She does a great job! She is one of my favorite narrators for Nora Roberts books!
"Where has my Nora.. gone?"
To say I feel like Nora has 'phoned this one in' is an understatement. Wow.. it is almost un-readable (or not listenable in my case). The character of the mermaid makes me cringe with her fake naivety and I don't get me started on the fact that some the editors must have sat in a boardroom and said to each other that we need to start appealing to younger reader. So how do they do that?? They took what I can only imagine was Nora's regularly superb writing and add insipid pop culture tie-ins that are suppose to make it hip or relevant to a younger audience with movie titles, one-liners and drinking vernacular. It doesn't.. it just is alienating the core audience. Nothing fits.. and they stick out like sore thumbs or like product placement in the middle of the story. It's just weird and very - not Nora.
I am going to try very hard that I read this trilogy and remember all the brilliance that has come before it.
I will force myself to get through the 3rd book of the series but I will likely forget about it because I don't care about any of the characters or want to find out what happens.
Good job with the material given
You'll get through it quickly.. skip pages if you have to.
If you just love Nora Roberts you will read this and may enjoy the basic story - but it's one she's told many times. If you have other Trilogy options of hers.. with higher 'star' ratings.. start there.
"Not as good as others"
Not what I have come to expect from Nora Roberts trilogy books, hope the 3rd is better
I previously reviewed this book, but it has been done with a different narrator and that is all to the good. I enjoy all Nora Roberts books and will relisten to this series with the new narrator. The last couple who read these books were awful. I periodically go back to books that I had a hard time enjoying because the narrators were not a good match to see if they've been updated. Thankfully, this series has been and I will try again.
I usually wait until all three books are available for a trilogy but after the first book I couldn't wait. And I was right. Amazing story, characters and phenomenal narrator. Almost wish there were more to the storyline than just three!
"Fantasy for Nora!"
Read the first in the trilogy and looking forward to the final book. Nora has kept the characters interesting and action coming. Love it
"Typical Nora Roberts Trilogy"
I hate to say this, but if you've read one of Robert's many trilogies, you've read them all.
Guardians Trilogy is no different, but still, I found it enjoyable-primarily due to Saskia Maareveld's spot on narration.
All the trilogies have three sisters or brothers or friends who, conveniently, meet 3 strangers of the opposite sex and engage in a psychic mystery/journey together. All 3 fall in love with their opposite gender stranger. There's always a bad mystical being after the same item that the 6 near strangers have to locate first. There you have a synopsis with no spoilers.
I haven't even rad the third book (because it's not out yet-duh) and I'm sure thats whats going to go on.
Why do I keep buying them? Because sometime I simply enjoy diving down into a simplistic yet exciting story arc and dream about whats going on.
If you love Roberts work, this series is a no brainer. If you haven't read Roberts...where have you been? Worth a try for any woman (not a man's book) who enjoys action and romance
"another amazing installment from this series."
yes i would, i think it is a fantastic story, i am not a masive fan of fantacy however this has really hooked me in and i can't wait to read the final book of the series.
My favourit character was anika, her purity and happyness is so sweet and the way she loves no matter what sadness is happening is amazing.
Love the way she has managed to keep the characters identaty going threwout the second book as well and that she has developed her reading of the different characters more.
can't wait to read the final book. i will be sorry to finish this series but there is no doubt i will come back to it again some time.
This is a great trilogy so far, really enjoyed listening to it. The narrator is excellent too. Roll on the next book!
Fabulous books love the Guardians..... Brilliantly told story. Can't wait for the next book and the conclusion of this trilogy.
