Romilly had worked hard for her stunning house in one of Bristol's most fashionable suburbs. She adored her daughter and handsome husband, and sure, life was sometimes exhausting - but nothing that a large glass of wine couldn't fix.
But then, as deep-buried insecurities surfaced, everything started to unravel. A glass of wine became a bottle; one bottle became two. Once, Romilly's family were everything to her. Now, after years of hiding the drinking, she must finally admit that she has found another love....

"A gut-wrenching and absolutely brilliant read." (The Irish Sun)
"A gritty, unputdownable read." (Bella)
The topic of alcoholism is always tough. Prowse did a great job! However for a first time reader, I would recommend another book by like her Perfect Daughter. If I had read this book before Prowses others, I doubt I would have continued reading her books to be honest.
I found it heartbreaking and well written. I think if you had drinking illness or have had to stop drinking go some reason, you would feel the pain of the main character and the upset it causes to everyone round the person with the illness.
So heartbreaking but beautifully read. Hard to imagine how addiction is such a powerful illnes
What a fabulous book. Sensitively but powerfully explored one woman's fight with alcohol, from both her and her daughters point of view. Heartbreaking at times but couldn't put down. Read fabulously by the author herself. It's my first time reading a book by this author, looking forward to hearing more
"An insightful, accurate insight to the workings of a brain, of a woman, just doing her best to survive"
This is beautifully, sympathetically written. Empathy given to all those affected by alcoholism, truely compelling.
"Glad I chose this one"
Beautifully written and narrated.
A bittersweet and captivating story that you want to hear to the end.
"Well researched and written story"
I really enjoyed this book in spite of the harrowing subject matter. Amanda Prowse reads her novels superbly and this was no exception.
One of the best books I have ever read. So well written it could have been a true story. Gritty and not an easy listen in places Im so looking forward to reading more by Amanda Prowse , brilliant narration by the author too.
"Makes you think before pouring that second glass"
This is completely different to my usual choice of sci fi escapism or the usual best sellers.
It's fiction but made me think more than a 'self help' book
Good voice, well read
It was thought provoking, sad, I wanted to shake her and say wake up you are ruining your life. I wanted a happy ending. Thinking about it the book is more poignant reaching it's enevitable conclusion
Brilliant story, brilliantly narrated and has made an impact on my life. It left me wanting a sequel! Highly recommended!
What an excellent compelling story, gripped all the way through.
The author told the story in a sympathetic way good book
