Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of After You by Jojo Moyes, the stunning sequel to the worldwide phenomenon Me Before You.
Jojo Moyes says: "I hadn't planned to write a sequel to Me Before You. But working on the movie script and reading the sheer volume of tweets and emails every day asking what Lou did with her life meant that the characters never left me. It has been such a pleasure revisiting Lou and her family and the Traynors and confronting them with a whole new set of issues. As ever, they have made me laugh and cry. I hope readers feel the same way at meeting them again."

So great to have Louisa and her loveable family back. I really enjoyed this book. So well written. The story was interesting, surprising at times and a tiny bit predictable in the end. Loved the characters from her support group as well. I listened to the whole book in a couple of days, couldn't put it down. A perfect follow on, extremely well performed by the narrator.
After me before you I was looking forward to Lou's next big step in life. Overall a bit disappointed, quite heavy, a sad and slightly dull read. It felt almost like the book was trying to piggy back off the first one. I understand the characters relationships but it was exhausting continuously dragging on. Will read more from the author just not the best book!
I've just finished After You and I'd like to say thank you for giving us more of Lou's journey. Feel free at anytime to give us another chapter or two I still feel the need to find out more of these beautifully complex characters. I know I could rely on my own imagination to fill in the blanks but quite frankly I don't trust myself to do that. In both these books things happened that I pretty much expect to occur but so much more took me completely by surprise. I wanted to skip forward more than once just to put myself out of my misery when I was hanging by a thread. I refrained but only just. I did love the way you took the time to allow all of the characters from Me Before You to grow within the pages of this book. It would have been easier to wrap things up with a nice little extended epilogue after the previous book but theirs was a story that needed to be told. I really enjoyed listening to the audio adaptations and the performance of those narrating brought about a depth that I sometimes miss when I am speeding towards the end of a book. Now I just have to wait for the movie.
I was so happy to see that there was a sequel to Me Before You and it did not disappoint. Thoroughly enjoyed the unexpected twist in the storyline and could not put it down but it has left me wanting more! It was wonderfully written and beautifully narrated. I really hope there is a sequel to After You
How the narrator reads an audio book makes all the difference to the experience.
Anna Acton read this with amazing feeling and made it easy to identify each and every character.
Not sure if you can say this about an audio book - but - I couldn't put this one down!!
it was really nice book, but why it was so quiet sometimes? I couldnt really hear anything while travelling in public transport, which is usually my favourite time ti listen to audiobooks
"Enjoy the unexpected?"
Me Before You is a hard act to follow, but After You deals sensitively and realistically with the lives and emotions of people left behind.
The storyline could under normal circumstances be rather dark and depressing, dealing as it does with the main character's struggle to climb out of her grief. But I found it compelling with unexpected snatches of humour that had me laughing out loud. The characters- particularly Louisa's family - are delightful and believable.
I could do without some of the bad language, but the atmosphere of the story stayed with me long after I finished the book. The author paints vivid pictures with her words - she somehow evokes all the senses.
Anna Acton's performance was outstanding and contributed hugely to my enjoyment of the book. What an actress!
"Good but should have been better"
It's a good book but since its a sequel of " me before you" I had lot of expectations and its not as good as "Me before you" . Overall a decent story but wish it was as good as its pre sequel .
What's there to say? She's pulled an el. James. 1st book a best seller, so she decided to milk it.
Well, it's a sappy horrible written happy-ever-after.
"Not as good as Me before you"
Book was ok, not as good as the 1st one a little disappointed in this.
This book got me laughing and crying and I fell in love with ambulance man sam. How I didn't want this book to end, but couldn't stop listening.
Tears in my eyes
"What happened after?"
Like most people who read Me Before You, I was left feeling completely heartbroken for Lou & what she went through with Will.
It was really lovely to have the opportunity to see what happened afterwards. This story picks up about 18 months after Will has passed away, Lou has gone on to do some of the things she promised him and herself she would do do but there are still some regrets around that.
She is in a job with a crappy boss and her career isn’t really going places. After an unexpected accident she finds herself back at home with her parents, relying on them to care for her and I guess it has helped bring them back together in way, after they reacted very negatively to the situation with Will.
Just when Louisa is contemplating making some changes to her life, after an out of the blue job offer comes, someone knocks on her door. Someone from Will’s past, a completely shocking someone. Louisa feels that she owes it to Will to help this person and in turn she will be paying forward all the kindness and love she received from him.
In the meantime, she meets a really lovely guy who is making her feel something other than friendship, her mother goes all feminist and is upsetting her father and the family routines and she is attending a support for people who have lost someone in their lives. The person she is helping becomes a real hindrance and she is left feeling like everything is just spinning out of control around her.
Maybe it’s time she put herself first and have faith that everything will work out as planned?
Si mi e'piaciuto tantissimo. il narrator's ha saputo trasmettere le emozioni perfettamente
i liked it a lot and would say it's better (more happening) than the first
"It was a very interesting story"
I walked out of the cinema where I saw "Me before you" and commented to a girl "What a lovely movie" and she told me that the book had a sequel. I had some credits left on Audible and so I searched for the new book.
What I found was a totally believable story of a girl that has been crushed by her boyfriends death. I listened as she made decisions, some good, some not do good though the course of this story. I am not sure if it was me whether I would have decided any differently.
If you are a fan of real writing and real stories of people, not just happy made up stories, then this book will be enjoyed by you. It is a wonderful book, rich with an emotional plot and twists and turns.
I commend you to it

what a superb listen! I laughed and cried my way through it, often waking up at night to listen to just a little bit more..... At first I was thoroughly enjoying it, but then was afraid the story was about to follow a very stereotyped pattern. Not at all, fortunately. A wonderful interplay of relationships, damage and triumph with all characters really coming to life.
The book could have ended several times along the way, and the advantage of listening, rather than reading, was that I was never sure how much more of the story was left, or if it was nearing its conclusion. Ok, I could have looked to see how many chapters it comprised, but it was much more of a surprise and joy in this way.
I have loved two of Jo Jo Moyes other books, really hated one, and been ambivalent about some others. She seems a rather patchy writer, but has really hit the jackpot with this one. The narration is absolutely superb; it just couldn't be better and immensely added to the enjoyment of this story.
"I think it's a lovely book!"
yes its a different narrator but thats not unusual. still has the essence of the story and beautifully written as usual for Jojo.
loved every minute.
Such a good sequel to 'me before you'. The narration really good to. The story made me laugh and cry. Very well written. Love jojo moyes books.
"Ready to find out what happens next"
Loved the first book and loved this one just as much and had left me wanting to find out what happens next, would make a fab mini series for tv or a great film xx
"It was ok"
She did a great job of carrying on Louisa's story, in fact given the first book any story would be hard to follow and it was a well written and enjoyable read.
Nothing like the first book and to be honest I felt that Louisa's personality was a bit too different
"Further tales of Lou ....."
I was a little suprised to hear that there was going to be a sequel to " me before you" but when I read what the book was going to include , I pre ordered it, and couldn't wait for it's arrival. Firstly I would say that it is impossible to create the same intensitivty that comes from Me before you, becouse of the subject matter. An impossible act to follow. . I personly enjoyed finding out what happened in the time after... A few suprises along the way too ! I thoroughly enjoyed the book.good narration .
As sequel goes this is different. Thankfully the ending isn't as heart wrenching as Me before you. It's still leaves me asking what happens next though. Louisa is really not like the usual chick lit heroine. She is just as messed up as we know we are ourselves. Really enjoyed this book I do hope there is a third.
"Poor when compared to 'Me Before You'."
I don't believe 'Me Before You' needed a sequel. It was a great book, with a solid ending. This is a long way from that. It meanders, with little discernable direction. None of the characters particulary engaged me. I didn't even recognise Louisa from the previous book. I have loved most of Jojo Moyes' work. This one just isn't up to her usual standard.
"After you by Jojo Moyes"
Just Brilliant loved every word, thank you Jojo for yet another fantastic
Read. So moving as was "me before you".
"An excellent sequel to Me Before You"
Yes. I enjoyed finding out what happened to Louisa after Me Before You ended, liked the narration style and found it amusing, touching and entertaining.
He filled my doorway, holding a toolbox in one hand and a bag of groceries in the other.
- Oh my God!, I said, you're like the ultimate female fantasy.
- Shelves, he said, deadpan. You need shelves.
- Oh baby keep talking.
- And home cooked food.
- That's it, I just came.
He laughed and dropped the tools in the hallway and kissed me.
Her voice fitted the character, plus variation in tone and speed appropriate to the context.
