If you've liked other Katie Fforde books you'll likely enjoy this one too. A slightly different story with some endearing characters. Let's not pretend it's high-level literature, but it is an enjoyable distraction.
This book is poorly written, with obvious prose, stilted dialogue and ridiculous characters who don't ring true. I could not get through it. I cannot believe this sort of rubbish is published.
"Happy Book terrible narration"
Loved this book a happy fun read unfortunately the narration spoilt the book had trouble listening. The three girls which are the main characters in the book are in their twenties and thirties yet the voices sound like an older woman most of the time. Sarah sounds like a man such a shame.
Will not purchase any book with young people read by this narrator. Her voice would be fine for older characters.
"Annother winner from Katie Fforde"
Each year me and my mum look forward to the new Katie Fforde coming out and this year was no different.
Funny, witty in places and really cheerful with a few twists and turns. Lovely story with all three girls being lovable with different and interlinking plots.
"Lovely bit of escapism"
Short and very sweet.
My first Katie Fforde, I'll make sure i have another on standby ready for when i need some light relief.
"Good story but wrong narration"
The narration is very frustrating, nice enough voice but.. In the nicest way... Too old for the characters. Plus the accents are ridiculous and make the characters seem simple. It's a shame as its resulted in me buying the book to read to avoid the awful character voices.
"Good Story - Poor Narration"
I really enjoyed the story but felt that the voices the narrator used made the characters sound a lot old than any of them actually were
Reluctant to purchase a book read by Jilly Bond again
Katie Fford at her usual best. Romantic and witty, but also excellently read by Jilly Bond. Highly entertaining. I want to listen or read it again.
"Ok, a little predictable"
A Vintage Wedding, was ok, a little predictable. Nice, sweet, maybe a little sickly in parts, and repetition of the obvious.
Pleasant enough story, predictable but who doesn't like a happy ending? My biggest problem was with the narration. For me, the characters were made to seem a lit older than they actually should be & the accents made me cringe.
What a shame a good title but that was about it ! Very predictable and I didn't enjoy the narration
"A lovely story"
Such a gentle story to relax and listen to . I found it easy to visualise the village and the people who lived there as well as those who were visitors.
Not the book for anyone who's ever been a "fat bridesmaid" there's a character who's only crime seems to be being fat and and having sex with someone she likes. She's actually repeatedly described as the "fat bridesmaid" and vilified by the main characters. The rest of the story isn't great but ok, it's all just a bit childish won't be reading more by this author.
