"Loved EVERY Minute"
I just adored this book. It is lengthy and a real saga but I was totally hooked from the start. It is superbly narrated and the pace is excellent. The characters were convincing and well defined and the story, though complex, was thought provoking and convincing without seeming contrived or leaving loose ends. I was in another world whilst listening to this. Totally absorbing.
"Rachel Does it Again"

"fantastic captivating so moving count put it down"
The story of this well to do damaged well to do family sticking together no matter if it hurt the lovely girl that so admired them all.
The dull childhood and her father attitude to children, her her escape to this beautiful house her bravery working being sent to france in the war the description of the Nazi touchure

This book is one to take away with you from all distractions on an Island with NO TV or radio. The description of her real Grandmother life story the true meaning of unconditional love of both her and her new found granddaughter.
i did quite like the cliched skeletons in the closet, although it did become very predictable
no it was just a fiction book that was pleasant to listen to
nothing, jilly bond is fab
"boring a up class soap opera"
I was more that half of the book and still not got to what the story was about and was fed up with it
the narrator was ok its the story was not
Great story of the life of a young girl to old age including narrative on 2nd world war. A good saga.
Yes, I would listen again. Even though I know the outcome, the story was so well crafted and told that I would enjoy listening again.
Beatrice was my favourite; her character was slowly revealed throughout the story and was not what I was expecting. I found that I admired her and cared about her so the final reveal was all the more emotional.
It was difficult to turn off and I looked forward to listening to another instalment when possible.
I don't want to give the story away, but it wasn't a boy meets girl, boy goes to war story that I thought it would be - it was so much more. it turns into a rollercoaster ride through the second world war for the main characters with a secret slowly revealed. Well worth a listen.
Where to start? I didn't finish the book as it didn't capture my interest enough.
It takes too long to get to the point
Uninspired. Dull. Forgetable
i would trash the lot and start again. sorry
