Publisher's Summary

The Sunday Times bestselling series is back. Eve Dallas is investigating the murder of a much-loved actor at a glittering party. The spotlight has never been brighter. Or deadlier...

It was a glittering event full of A-listers, hosted by Eliza Lane and Brant Fitzhugh, the most glittering of all celebrity couples. Everyone had expected the party to be in the newspapers the next day but not because one of the hosts was murdered! As the crowd had gathered to watch Eliza sing, Fitzhugh had raised a final toast to his glamorous wife and fallen to the floor. Death by cyanide poisoning. It's time for Lt. Eve Dallas to make her entrance.

From all accounts, Fitzhugh wasn't the kind of star who made enemies. Eliza, on the other hand, had many rivals, and a few of them could class as enemies. Since the champagne cocktail that killed Brant was originally intended for Eliza, could it be that she was the real target?

With so many people at the party, Eve has her work cut out determining who could commit murder in the middle of a crowd. As one who's not fond of the spotlight, she dreads the media circus surrounding a case like this. All she wants is to figure out who's truly innocent, and who's only acting that way...

great little twists

one of Susanne Erikson's best performances.
Also love the line from Roarke, as it's so true.

Love, when it's real, doesn't hang on conditions.

Encore in Death

I’ve listened to every one of Eve and Rourke’s stories, some of them twice. I always enjoy them, they are original and consistent. Encore in Death is intriguing and entertaining. I had a fair idea who dun it from the beginning and i loved the way it unfolded.

Who is the intended victim

It was a very interesting start to try to figure out exactly who was supposed to be the victim. Of course Eve and Peabody figured it out leaving no doubt about it. I did however miss the wit that usually makes this series so special. No Mavis and Bella! Not much EDD speak especially Callender and I thought Rourke was less involved than usual. Still a great series.

Good Narration.

2023 AUDIBLE REVIEW
Good Narration.
I remembered who the killer was as this was a recent read for me but I still found this felt flat in places.
BOOK REVIEW 2022
Felt a little flat in places.
A pleasant read in this series but not one of the gripping or read in one go ones.
Good entertainment with the usual group though not of Mavis.
The twisty ending was good, though I’d have liked to see Eve break her in interview.

Zzzzzzzzzzzz

Very disappointing, boring, and putting me to sleep. Usually murder narratives/stories keep us wanting to turn the page, struggle to close the book, and go to bed. This latest release has no bite. To me, this has been rushed to release. No real background work has been done and it shows.
